ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ 30 වසරක යුද්ධයකින් පසු සංචාරකයන් බහුලව පැමිණෙන රටක් බවට පත් කිරීමටත් ඒ සඳහා අවශ්‍ය සියලු යටිතල පහසුකම් සැපයිමටත් සියලු අංශ ඒකාබද්ධ කොට සමස්ථ සංචාරක වැඩපිළිවෙළක් එවකට රජයේ ආර්ථික කටයුතු සංවර්ධන අමාත්‍ය බැසිල් රාජපක්ෂ විසින් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන ලදී.
විදේශීය සංචාරකයින් සඳහා අවශ්‍ය සියලු පහසුකම් ආර්ථික සංවර්ධන අමාත්‍යාංශය සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකා සංචාරක ප්‍රවර්ධන කාර්යාංශය එකව සංවිධානය කල අතර ලංකාවට පැමිණෙන සංචාරකයින් හරහා ලොව වටා ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ වැදගත්කම සංග්‍රහශිලිත්වය මෙන්ම රට ගැන ධානාත්මක අදහසක් විදේශික සංචාරකයින් හරහා ලොවට ගෙන යෑම එහි ප්‍රධාන අරමුණ විය.
විශේෂයෙන්ම මධ්‍යම සංස්කෘතියට අයත් සංචාරක ආකර්ශනය කරන ස්ථානල උද්භිත උද්‍යාන මෙන්ම පින්නවල අලි අනාථාගාරය ඇතුළු වනජීවි ආශ්‍රිත උද්‍යාන මෙන්ම සංචාරකයින්ට අවශ්‍ය තෑගි හා සැමරුම් භාන්ඩ අලෙවියට අවශ්‍ය පහසුකම් ද ආර්ථික සංවර්ධනය කටයුතු අමාත්‍යාංශයේ සම්බන්ධිකරණ හරහා ඒකාබද්ධ වැඩපිළිවෙළක් ලෙස ක්‍රියාත්මක කෙරුනි.
මෙම සෑම ස්ථානයකම සංචාරකයින්ට අවශ්‍ය සනිපාරක්ෂක පහසුකම් ඉතා ඉහළ මට්ටමින් දියුණු කිරිමට අවශ්‍ය වැඩසටහන් ක්‍රියාත්මක වුන අතර ඉතා ඉහළ මට්ටමේ වැසිකිලි පද්ධතියක් ඒ සැම වැදගත් ස්ථානවල ඉදිකරන ලදී.
එහෙත් කනගාටුවට කරුණ නම් ඒ ඉතා ඉහළ තත්ත්වයකින් ගොඩ නැගු වැසිකිලි පද්ධති අද වනවිට නඩත්තු කිරීම් පවා අඩපණ වී ඇති බව සීගිරියේ ගිය විදේශීය සංචාරකයින් විසින්ම මාධ්‍ය වෙත ප්‍රකාශ කිරිම අපේ රටේ කීර්තියට මෙන්ම සංචාරක ප්‍රවර්ධනයට මිල කල නොහැකි පාඩුවකි. එහිදි එක විදේශීය සංචාරකයකු පවසන්නේ මේ රටත් ඉන්දියාව වගේ කියලයි. එනම් ඉන්දියාව ඉතාම අපිරිසිදු නිසාය.

The truth is the SSBs' do not know how to keep things in good order.
(Go to most of the Star class hotel WCs and you can see the reality).

We should force authorities to stop charging different entrance fee for foreigners.
Since Sigiriya and many other places in Sri Lanka are considered as World Heritage sites, people from all parts of the globe should have the equal treatment.

Atleast not charge an absurdly high amount.

If such a high amount is charged, other value additions should be there - transport to/from nearby hotels at particular times, water and some refreshments, a guide (to take people in groups), small booklet with the Sigiriya story, clean washrooms, etc .
*few of these are currently happening.

Fleecing starts from the Immigration desks at the Arrival Hall until he or she goes back.
We are fleecing / over charging foreigners only to support a ZERO PRODUCTIVE work force, who only there to bring more bad name to the country.

Tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka edged down 0.1 percent year-on-year (YoY) in February to 197, 517 amid the partial closure of the country’s main airport and a significant drop in Chinese arrivals, the data released by the country’s tourism office showed.
This ended a 93-month streak of YoY tourist increases to the country, since the end of the 30-year long war in May 2009. However the tourist arrivals in the first two months of 2017 rose 6.4 percent to 416, 877 tourists.
