Seylan Bank's recovery since 2009 is amazing when we evaluate its NPL ratio then.

Seylan’s gross NPL ratio at a group level stood at 29.38% at FYE09, compared to
a median of 6.85% for the three large domestic private commercial banks (see
peer comparison on page 3). However the pace of incremental NPL growth has
reduced in Q209, while NPLs reduced in absolute terms by 2.8% in Q309 and
4.5% in Q409, due to the bank’s focused recovery efforts. Over 16% of NPLs at
FYE09 consisted of direct lending to five Ceylinco group companies. A further
25% of NPLs were made up of 20 large exposures. The bank expects to recover
(or where the entities are going‐concerns, to restructure) a majority of this in
the short term.

How is Seylan when it comes to retail banking? I mean in terms of maintaining an online account with ability to pay bills and transfer money? Going to discontinue HSBC saving and credit cards which I had for 16 years because of bad service. I saw lot of offers during new year for the credit card too.

All Banks aim one objective mainly... All customers aim maximum benefit to them.. Since there are too many banks we the customer get best benefits.. I use Standard Chartered Credit Card just to watch movies with my family.. So for me each card offer a unique benefit. NTB Amex I use for settling utility bills..HSBC for loans..Sampath for Hotels.. People's for buying books and all give me amazing discounts..

decrease in performance when looking at previous quarter but March quarter for the last 2 years have been similar.

There have been an increase of 3 branches after quite some time.
