No actually, I have misunderstood the relevant clause in the rights issue announcement.

They are yet to announce the dates for the rights and the EGM date. Seem to be taking more time than initially thought.

Resignation of chairman in a sudden manner is bit suspicious. SAMP generally had a well planned successive plan. In the current announcement even a successor is not mentioned.

Highly unusual for a top tier bank like SAMP.

Could not believe sudden collapse on price in Sampath Bank due to bad timing on right issue with misleading price. If you monitor the todays transactions, investors are not keen to invest on SAMP and not only that but also current share holders over reacting on the price.

Currently it trading 165 and it was traded around 230 before the right issue. Almost 30% collapse

Today fall is due to XD effect of scrip dividend.
If someone wants to buy for LT, SAMP is at a discounted price now.Who doesn't like rights can wait till right issue is over.

There was a rumour a few months ago that SAMP was in difficulty and a possible Bank Run, which I thought was something being spread with a hidden political agenda.
But looks like there is something more which a few only know and most of us are still unaware of.

1. Sent it with a check to claim the rights
2. Sent it with a bigger check for more rights
3. Sent it to the broker hut to sell the rights
4. Kept it as a souvenir to show younger generation how not to do a rights issue
