2017 වසරේ දී අයවැය හිඟය දළ ජාතික ආදායමෙන් දැනට පවතින 5.4% සිට 4.7% මට්ටම දක්වා අඩු කර ගැනීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇති බවත්, ඒ වෙනුවෙන් රාජ්‍ය ආදායම ඉහළ නංවා ගැනීමට ඇති නව මාර්ග ක්‍රියාවට නංවන බවත් මුදල් අමාත්‍ය රවී කරුණානායක මහතා පැවසීය. පසුගිය දා පැවති හමුවක දී මුදල් අමාත්‍යවරයා මේ බව අනාවරණය කර සිටියේය.

අදහස් දක්වමින් මුදල් අමාත්‍යවරයා පැවසුවේ මේ වන විට ඉඩම් හා දේපළ වෙළෙඳාම් හරහා බොහෝ පුද්ගලයින් අති විශාල ලාභ උපයන බවත් එහිදී එම ප්‍රාග්ධන ලාභයෙන් කොටසක් රාජ්‍ය ආදායමට දායක කර ගැනීමට පියවර ගන්නා බවත්ය.

මේ අනුව ඉදිරි අයවැයේ දී ඉඩම්, දේපළ ආදී ගනුදෙනු වෙත ප්‍රාග්ධන ලාභ බදු හඳුන්වා දෙනු ලබන බවට පැවසු මුදල් අමාත්‍යවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් කියා සිටියේ, මෙම ප්‍රාග්ධන ලාභ බද්ද කොටස් වෙළෙඳපොළ ගනුදෙනු කෙරෙහි බල නොපාන බවත්ය.

I don't know why;
There's nth'g to cry.

It's the investment cycle my lads,

When the market goes too high, sell your steake and just say something stupid like 'we're going to charge a CGT on shares'.

Then, when the market has come down to your levels, 'say another stupid think like 'no GCT on equity', just remember to collect you stock before that.

That's how things are made to work.

2.Divert more money from other investment instruments as above eg. real estate.

Poor investors heavily penalized due to policy inconsistency. Hope all the insiders bought enough and would off load when the market goes up and again make an announcement about CGT to collect lower. Very cheap game is being played.
We could see that UNP company Perpetual Treasuries collected massive amounts of NDB, DFCC and Central Finance at cheap price levels. This may be the main reason why Ranil scared all the investors and kept the market low.

CGT on property is needed due to over priced land and property prices. The bubble is just about to burst. Can we expect money getting diverted from property market to capital markets?

I expect this budget would be somewhat investor friendly budget as Sri Lanka didn't get any FDIs in the last 2 years. The government likes it or not they have to encourage investors and this may be their last chance to do that since there has been continuous outflow of investment in the past two years due to lack of confidence.

The government will collect expected revenue from VAT increase and therefore I expect a reduction in corporate taxes.

As Future 123 said, If this materialize, burst of property bubble is highly likely. In recent years land prices went up exhorbitantly. Apartment complex are mushrooming everywhere. I would be cautious on real estate now. It would be reasonable to assume that some funds from real estate could divert to equity.

those who are fed  up with holding for two or more years with many positive beliefs are ready to dump big quantities even below market price... any good news will soon become sour due to this..

Yet if the sentiment becomes strong even these substantial sellers will hold

Timing is often a difficult game...

If new comers come to market this environment will change..so the old timers have the opportunity to say to little puppet Pinochio that they can plant money to double and treble.. Poor little Pinochios will soon start posting here and there while their noses grow fast about the merits of buying the share they already bought...

Where is our new generation to buy our nice dreams..

We the most selfish investors are collectively trying to protect our own investments...

This is a very reasonable government.

Taxes [regardless of being positive or negative] are charged from profit makers only; not from poor losers.
