Kegalle Plantation consist of 21 Estates. By now the company owns 10,000 hectares and out of that 5,200  hectares of rubber , 1,400 for tea 500 for coconut.

Like other plantation companies, KGAL also shows a dip in 2016 compared to previous year.

Natural rubber  price and synthetic rubber price move in hand in hand

Natural rubber price is moving along the cycle of crude oil

Thus Oil price has reached a low value after being high for a decade or more...

The world is experimenting many other alternatives successfully by now even solar based  planes..This has made all oil produce to increase output and make hey while sun shines..So for a long period oil price will remain low as per demand and supply.

But we have to keep enough space for
1. Hedge Funds, Futures and Options market as by now they create and destroy demand ..

2. Riots ,revolutions, unrest, ISIS, Al Quaida which topple oil based economies and increase oil price


If one believes rubber price to rich back , its a gamble

In the thread you linked, I have commented last.. When I was studying about rubber prices I found Jana.. Jana is one very good writer and see the amount he has written ...I believe its really worthwhile to have all such good writers in one place than scattered all over based on minor issues...

It simply says that today's commodity prices are not based on demand and supply but on Futures.. The traders of futures, who are closely linked few and few large banks control the price .. Finally its not Starbucks get the benefit of Coffee but the futures traders, hedge funds, banks etc... Same applies for Oil and Rubber.

A lot of listed entities are sensitive to the Rubber prices, hence its a very important thread. Recommend to Jana 1 to rename thread as Rubber Prices or Rubber.
Early recognition of a trend reversal could be lucrative.
