RegisterIts raining and I thought of looking at some hydro power companies. Next quarter results should be encouraging than current. I got my eye on VPEL since expecting a dividend. I see that HPWR has made a major provision for possibility of GOVT not renewing purchasing agreements. So hydro power companies are the safe bet.

VPEL was over Rs 8 a couple of years back and is doing well now.

Conditions are now getting good for hydro power so in 2 -3 months time will be the best time for these guys. Even this quarter PBT increase over 100%. Cash position has improved so hope VPEL will maintain the good dividend yield as well. PAP expect a 10 cents div.

Seems to be good prospect. Eventhough quarterly profits down Yearly eps up.

Even if they produce extra, can they still sell it to CEB?
I thought CEB has a deal to buy such n such from the many hydro plants that offer electricity. Is it like no deal, they just made agreements to buy whenever needed?
On the other hand, who has a hydro plant being built on Kithulgala, the white water rafting place?

Nope, all power generated by mini hydro power plants is supplied to the grid, however i'm quite not sure about thermal pp.

Last year is heavily wet year and all Hydro power companies did well. We can not expect same profit for this year. Please check first quarter results of many companies.
Further some companies tax release period are over. You should be more vigilant when you buy shares of those companies.
