Arjuna in post-fixing, appoints brother as ports chief

Ports and Shipping Minister Arjuna Ranatunga has appointed his brother, former cricketer Dammika Ranatunga, as Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA). Mr. Ranatunga, a younger sibling of the Minister, assumed duties on Thursday, SLPA sources said.
The move took many by surprise as the elder Ranatunga had been at the forefront of the campaign against nepotism and corruption against the previous Government. Once he took over as Minister, however, he facilitated the removal of the earlier chairman, vice chairman and the SLPA’s board of directors and then installed his brother in the topmost position.
There was a pirith ceremony this week at the Colombo Port to shower blessings on the new appointee. His selection also puts paid to promises made by President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe that top posts at vital Government institutions will be filled on a “scientific basis” by an independent committee headed by them.
Before the August 17 parliamentary elections, Minister Ranatunga (who held the same portfolio in the interim Government) requested the SLPA chairman, vice chairman and board members to give him signed letters of resignation. He assured them the letters would be used only if necessary.
On September 8, the minister faxed them notes stating he had accepted their resignations. There was no prior warning. The new chairman has played in two Test matches for Sri Lanka.

No wonder if this rift among the brothers are a drama. if SLFP won Prasanna Ranatunga, If UNP wins Arjuna Ranatunga.

විවේචනයන් කර මාස කීපයක් යද්දී තම වදන් වැදි බණ කරගත් අර්ජුන තරම් මේ ආණ්ඩුවේ පවුල් වාදය හා පුද්ගලික හිතවතුන්ට සුදුසුකම් නොතකා තනතුරු පුදන වෙනත් අයෙක් නැති තත්වයකට පත්ව ඇත.
චන්ද්රිකා කුමාරතුංග මහත්මිය සමග ඇති හිතවත් කම ආයුධයක් කරගෙන ඇති අර්ජුන පෙරේදා තම වැඩිමල් සොහොයුරු ධම්මික රණතුංග වරාය අධිකාරියේ සභාපති පුටුවට ගෙන ආවේය. ඊට අමතරව තම මවගේ පාර්ශවයේ ඥාතීන් වන අජිත් ගුණසේකර, මංගල ගුණසේකර, නාථ ගුණසේකර ආදී ගුණසේකරලාම තිදෙනෙකුට වරායේ තනතුරු පුදා තිබේ. දින සීය කාලයේ තනතුරු පිරවීමෙදී ද තම පවුලට අහාර සපයන විමලේ නම් අයකු හා ප්රවාහන හා වෙනත් අවශ්යතා සපයන සුරේෂ් නමැත්තාටද තනතුරු පිදුවේ අර්ජුන ය.
උසස් පෙළ හෝ සමත් නැති ධම්මික රණතුංගට වරාය සභාපති ධූරය පිදීමට ඇති සුදුසුකම් මොනවාදැයි අර්ජුන රණතුංගත් එම පත්වීම අනුමත කළ ජනාධිපති අගමැති දෙදෙනාත් රටට පැහැදිලි කළ යුතුය. දන්නා තරමට නම් ජනාධිපති අගමැති දෙදෙනාම ධම්මික රණතුංගගේ පත්වීමට විරුද්ධ වුවද අර්ජුනගේ දැඩි බලපෑම මත අවසානයේ ඊට එකඟ වී ඇත. මෙහිදී ධම්මික රණගුංග සභාපති කරන්නැයි වරායේ වෘත්තීය සමිති කියා සිටින බවට අර්ජුන ඉදිරිපත් කළ සියළු ලිපි බොරු ඒවාය. කිසිදු වැදගත් වරාය වෘත්තීය සමිතියක් අර්ජුනගේ අයියා සභාපති කරන්නැයි ඉල්ලා නැත.
ධම්මික රණතුංග වරාය සභාපති කළ අර්ජුනගේ මීලඟ වෑයම සිය බාල සොහොයුරු නිශාන්ත රණතුංග ක්රිකට් මුල් පුටුවට ගෙන ඒමය.
උසස් පෙළවත් සමත් නැති මේ සොහොයුරන් දෙදෙනාගේ ක්රිකට් සුදුසුකම්ද අපුරුය. ධම්මික ක්රීඩා කර ඇත්තේ ටෙස්ට් තරඟ 2 ක් පමණි. නිශාන්ත ක්රීඩා කර ඇත්තේ එක් දින තරඟ 2 ක් පමණි. රැස් කර ඇත්තේ ලකුණු බින්දුවකි. අර්ජුනගේ නායකත්වයේ බලපෑම නොවුයේ නම් මොවුන් දෙදෙනාට එම තරඟ 2 හෝ ක්රීඩා කිරීමට තරම් සුදුසුකම් නොවූ බව නොදන්නා කෙනෙක් නැත. අර්ජුනගේ අනෙක් සොහොයුරු සංජීව රණතුංගට ශ්රී ලංකා පිලේ ස්ථානය රැක දීම සඳහා වරුණ වරාගොඩ වැනි දක්ෂ ක්රීඩකයන්ට ඒ අවධියේ අර්ජුන කැපිලි සිදු කළ අයුරු ද තවමත් බොහෝ දෙනෙකුට අමතකව ගොස් නැත.
තමන් තරම් පාරිශුද්ධ ක්රීඩකයකු නොවන බව කීවත් අර්ජුනටද තරඟ පාවා දීමේ චෝදනා එකල තිබිණ. ඔහුට එල්ල වූ තරඟ පාවා දීමේ චෝදනාවන්ගෙන් බේරා ගත්තේ එවකට ගජ මිතුරු දැන් පස මිතුරු තිලංග සුමතිපාල විසිනි. තමන්ට වඩා අනිකුත් ක්රීඩකයන් මුදල් හම්බ කිරීම හා ජනප්රිය වීම නුහුලන අර්ජුන ලොව පුරා මේ වන විට ජනප්රිය හා ගරු කටයුතු ක්රීඩකයන් බවට පත්ව සිටින කුමාර් සංගක්කාර හා මහේල ජයවර්ධන දෙපලට හැම විටම ගරහන්නේ ඉතාමත් නීච අයුරිනි.
පසුගිය හැම ක්රිකට් පාලක මණ්ඩල නිලධාරින්ම හොරුන් ලෙස හංවඩු ගහන අර්ජුන පහුගිය ක්රිකට් පරිපාලකයන් අතර වැඩියෙන්ම චෝදනා ලැබූ තම සහෝදරයා ගැන වචනයක් හෝ නොකියයි. ඔහු හොරෙක් නොවන බව පෙන්වීමට වරක් ඔහුව අගමැති රනිල් වීක්රමසිංහ ලඟටද රැගෙන ගියත් ඔහු ගැන තමන් හොඳින් දන්නා බව රනිල් කීම නිසා දෙදෙනාටම අකුලාගෙන ආපසු ඒමට සිදු විය.
තමන් මෙවර ක්රිකට් නිලවරණයේ සභාපති ධුරයට තරග කරන බව පසුගිය මාසයේ අර්ජුන ප්රසිද්ධියේ ප්රකාශ කලත් තම ප්රති වාදියා තිලංග සුමතිපාල බවත් ඔහු මෙවර තරඟ වදින්නේ හිටපු ජනප්රිය පරිපාලකයන් දෙදෙනෙකු වන ජයන්ත ධර්මදාස හා කේ.මතිවානන් සමග එක්ව බව දැන ගැනීමෙන් පසු හෙමින් සීරුවේ පල්ලම් බැස තම සහෝදරයා වන නිශාන්ත රණතුංග ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට සුදානම් වෙයි. මේ සඳහා මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ හිටපු ජනපතිවරයාට හොඳින්ම කඩේ ගිය අයකු වන උපාලි ධර්මදාසද නිශාන්තට උදව් කිරීමට ඉදිරිපත් වී තිබේ.
පසුගිය සෙනසුරාදා උපාලි ධර්මදාසගේ නිවසට ක්රිකට් ක්රීඩා සමාජ නිලධාරීන් කැඳවා හොඳින් සප්පායම් කළ උපාලි , නිශාන්ත සභාපති ධුරයට ඉදිරිපත් වන බවත් තමන් මෙන්ම අර්ජුනත් ඔහුට සහය දෙන බවත් එහිදී හොඳින් සූර් වී දොඩවන ලදී.
මීට පෙර එක වතාවක් අර්ජුන තිලංග හා සභාපති ධුරයට තරග වැදී ලබා ගත්තේ චන්ද 8 ක් පමණි. චන්ද 100 කට වඩා ගත් තිලංග පැහැදිලි ජයග්රාහකයා වෙමින් එහිදී අර්ජුනට අන්ත පරාජයක් අත් කර දුන්නේය. අර්ජුන පාසල් අවදියේ සිටම ක්රීඩා කළ එස්.එස්.සී. ක්රීඩා සමාජයේ චන්දය පවා එවර අර්ජුනට හිමි නොවීය.
මෙවන් අර්ජුන රණතුංග ශ්රීලනිප නායකයා කිරීමට වලිකන චන්ද්රිකා කුමාරතුංග මහත්මිය මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ ගෙනැවිත් කර ගත් සන්තෑසිය අර්ජුනගෙන්ද කර ගත් පසු අපට ඇයගේ ඤං පචං නිදහසට කාරණා යලිත් වතාවක් ඇසිය හැකිය. මහින්ද නම් ජනාධිපතිවන තුරු ඔහුගේ සහෝදරයන් ඉතා හොඳ මිනිසුවන් වුවද අර්ජුනගේ සොහොයුරන් වන ප්රසන්න සහ නිශාන්ත දෙදෙනාම කම්බ හොරුන් බව අර්ජුන ඇමැතිවරයෙක් වීමටත් පෙරම ජනතාවට ඔප්පු කර තිබේ.
රාජපක්ෂ පවුල එළවා දමා ජනතාව යහපාලන ආණ්ඩුවක් පත් කර ගත්තේ රණතුංග පවුලේ විගඩම් බලන්නට නම් නොවේ.

Isn't all big companies are based on this concept except the companies developed in last two centuries in US and Europe?
Who are the leading families of Sri Lanka? In media that's Kariyakarawana, then in music Bulathsinhala, Rathnayaka, etc, In medicine... In legal world..... In politics.... in School administration....In.... In....
Isn't the life insurance so hard to penetrate to Sri Lankan society due to the bond of family?
