    Some entrepreneurs start business ventures from scratch and develop empires. Richard Branson of Virgin is one such. But many Sri Lankan firms are good at acquiring firms built by others and develop them. CIC history consist of many such innovations and acquistions.

    1929 Incorporation of Chemical Industries Colombo

    1968 start operations of Agrochemicals at Ratmalana

    1974  Formation of Chemanex

    1991 Incorporation of CISCO packaging

    1992 Purchasing of Fertilizer business from British American Tobacco

    1995 Incorporation of CIC Paints and now known as Akzo Nobel Paints

    2001 Invest in Chemanex PLC

    2002 Purchase of  Nutrina from Cargills Inc USA

    2003 Investment in Link Natural Products

    2012 Investments in Ceylinco Pharmaceuticals now known as CIC Life science Ltd

    CIC revenue growth was not on a fast track and the company has restructured operations after recording losses..

    When most of companies record consistent EPS growth CIC was rather slow at growth

    Company dividend policy is consistent and in each year profit is recorded dividend is declared. Compared to market value dividend yield is not attractive. But compared to earnings dividends are sufficient.

    When we evaluate CIC with other diversified holding companies, the revenue growth is low.

    CISCO Packaging was doing well as FMCG was doing well. Thus packaging of food products get the benefit of bubbling consumption growth.

    CIC Red Basmathi exports  recorded successful year

    Link Sudantha and Samahan has become demanded brands of the market.

    CIC had rallied over the last few months even before the ASPI rally, split ahead of most others and took a dip with others. Still the profits reported indicates this is undervalued to me. What do you think?
