What was the reason/s for the 2012 (as per the chart) performance?
Weather or any other contributor?
Or both.

MHHP stands for Mini Hydro Power Projects..
SHPP means small hydro power projects
Dendro power is based on bio-fuel.
Dendro power is the generation of electricity from sustainably grown biomass (fuel wood). It is particularly well suited to tropical countries such as Sri Lanka as the fuel wood can be grown rapidly and coppiced once or twice a month.

Re: VLL.N0000 (Vidullanka PLC)
1. Find other renewable energy like Wind Mills... but the current technology is not sufficient to absorb that to national Grid..Thus Vidullanka has found dendro
2. Expand out of SL soil.. So Vidul has found Uganda...and became the first company to expand power generating projects out of Sri Lanka..

Re: VLL.N0000 (Vidullanka PLC)
Dr sold at 6/- and I (now regrettably) sold around that range too despite having a target of 8/-. But I needed some cash too around that time.
At that stage I was very positive on VLL and its growth. But at current prices, I need to study again, but I'm looking at some other hydros.
This thread has some similar threads at the end

Directors are buying at all levels and wonder when they stop buying, Of course, this share is one of my favourites
I would recommend to study well to buy in current prices

Yes they are trying to grow by acquisitions. More like the TJL of hydros, isn't it?

Ype.. we've always looked at VPEL as the leader - I think just for their dividend. But growth is

Re: VLL.N0000 (Vidullanka PLC)
So do your study if you think this is a gem you have found and are going all in. Looking at the trend VLL will go on expanding further and if done so will add more value.
I have talked about better potential for other hydros compared to VPEL for this reason. At dividend yield VPEL is attractive but only a handful invest for dividend yield as top goal.
Hydros are also seasonal. So don't take their best quarter and multiply by 4 to get annual EPS.

Re: VLL.N0000 (Vidullanka PLC)
Due to this flaw in government policy Asia Securities has inclined positively towards min hydro stocks for the short term.
The mini hydro projects listed in CSE are Resus Energy, Panasia Power, Vallibel Power and Vidullanka.
The rates for a certain year are published in October or November of the preceding year, but due to political instability in 2014, the 2015 rates are not published. Thus still 2014 rates are in practice.

Re: VLL.N0000 (Vidullanka PLC)
Is it common to other Hydro Power projects too?
If so is it because
i) the raw material is flowing water ?
or
ii) is CEB buying electricity at inflated prices ?

What ever it is I am impressed with Net Profit Margin of VLL
