VLL seems to have settled at 6/- with heavy buying by directors some time ago. Moves to 5.80/- on bad days.

I will watch this share as it has projects under development which can add more to the bottomline

Any idea as to how the investments in Uganda are doing ?

Energy is vital for economic growth and development of a country. In Uganda however, the energy sector, is largely informal and under developed. Only about 10% of the country’s population is connected to the national electricity grid. The total electrical energy contribution in Uganda consists primarily of hydro power.

Although power is in short supply, Uganda is blessed with a vast potential for hydro electric power generation. Uganda has an estimated overall electrical power potential of over 5,300MW, Comprising of 2,200 Mw potential from hydropower. The opportunities in electrical sector in Uganda has been identified and priorities by the Government of Uganda in its National Development Plan.

Muvumbe Hydro U Limited, promoted by Vidullanka PLC of Sri Lanka recognized this opportunity to venture in to Uganda by developing the Muvumbe Small Hydro Power Project in Kabale Distrcit in the Western Region of Uganda

Uganda has been an attractive destination for Sri Lankan businessmen specially those who are into Hydro Power projects. VLL is not the only service provider from Sri Lanka.

V.S.Hydro Power owns the largest hydro power project in Uganda- Mpanga project of 18MV

Eco Holding owns Rsiwmi of 5.6MV and Kanugu of 6.6 MW

Thanks YK. Very informative, Uganda also carries some political risks with the Dick tator who is not so benign. High returns though, with corruption involved.

I don't like to go out of the topic of the thread....but if you believe only Uganda and the countries are corrupt...

Check the God father of Oil , Marc Rich... how he fled to Switzerland when there were legal cases against him and how he obtained presidential pardon from Bill Clinton on the last date of Clinton's office at a bribe (or sorry there are no bribes in US) ... donation of 1/4 Billion and the same Clinton's wife is now seeking candidate....

No that's not what I meant. Authoritarian dictators don't last forever and when they are dislodged, there is a period of uncertainty and turmoil. Museveni has had a long run and indicators are that things are heating up on the political front.

Viduallanka's associate company power plant connected to national grid.

Vidullanka PLC a mini hydro develper, yesterday said its associate Nilawala Vidullanka Company PVT has successfuly completed constructing of the two megawatt Ethamala Mini Hydro Power Plant in Pitabeddara, Matara and the plants was grid connected on Spet 30th 2016. VLL owns 26.6% of Nilwala.

Yes.... dry season is good for ice cream sellers and soft drink sellers... Rainy season is good for Hydro Projects even when CCS and LION was under flood...so we have to diversify our PFs...at the same time if you believe one day again there will be rainy season, its better to buy Hydro shares when price is low...

Our thinking pattern is such when there is drought we are cursing like there will never be rain again...Just two weeks ago talking about Hydro projects was a joke
