Re: EU agrees to help Lanka lift ban
If this tax concession is given only to local manufacturers, it will boost Sri Lankan Canned fish market. average daily consumption of canned fish in Sri Lanka is around 150,000 per day.
Local manufacturers couldn't compete with low quality Chinese import canned fish and have being asking previous gov. to increase import tax by 25 Rs.
If they have reduced import tax by 60 Rs for canned fish, local manufacturers will have face a dire situation.
