Eg: If JKH makes 4 billion the 2 billion is taxed 25% in addition to 28% corporate tax. Total tax is 48%.
Shareholders won't get any dividends. This will kill the businesses and share holders

Anyway cheese eaters will always vote for the UNP. They will pay the mansion tax, liquor tax and keep voting.
Ranilans has learned the lessons from 2002 and trying to catch the votes from the farmers, middle class, anti casino crowd.
Correct. I remember Choksy presenting the budget in only English in 2002 or 2003. It was a disgrace to the common man. Common man was neglected heavily during that period even to our dismay. Ranil has learned his lessons. Also need to win election in June ne?
Electricity prices should have been reduced at least 10% for businesses. Still paying that 40% fuel surcharge. Only households were given 25% relief last year.

Only the tax is reduced. So no impact on the company performance in terms of GP margin.
But there will be an effect on TKYO by super tax.
Not too sure what u said. 90rs reduction would have significant impact on its profitability. This mean nearly 10% reduction of price ( ordinary Portland cement they sell at 90 rs), So almost there net profit is varnished. So it is great blow for them. In the other hand 7% cement tax reduction which I am not sure where they said in the parliament, sum1 else published here. If 7% reduction on top of 90 rs that will have some positive impact by increasing cement consumption. But I am not sure builders abondaned their bulding bids becz of cement price. If cement consumption is having less correlation with its price then price reduction wouldn't positively influence on the TKYO price.

Whether it's for the total amount or for above Rs 2 billion/year portion was not clear. Good if the latter is true.

I got my hybrid cleared yesterday. Its a saving of about 400k when directly importing although process of doing it becomes a pain.
Ravi K also said Hybrid car taxes will be increased

Its a one time tax and for the companies which recorded over LKR 2 Bn for the financial year 2013-2014. I think it means only for the last year.

"Today, the progress of the construction industry has hindered due to the high cost in the inputs such as cement, steel and sand. In order to address this issue, I propose to remove the customs duty applicable on cement and steel billets. Further, we would take every step to ensure that sand, which is another key input in the construction industry, is mined without harming our environment."Jana1 wrote:RPPA wrote:yaka wrote:puliyanam wrote:Tax on cement reduced by 7%.. So, Karu mentioned that their intention is to subsidize the construction sector. Hence, tax is reduced by 7.5%, and as a result of that , he's saying that the cement price will be reduced approximately 90 rupees.
So there'll be no negative impact on GP margin of TKYO and good news for the construction sector as well.
