Power & Energy Sector trading multiples

Quick update on the trading multiples. LIOC and LGL are classified under this sector but others are Power generating companies mostly Hydro. All data are for the reported FY14 results.

VPEL trading at an attractive? P/E with a good dividend yield. At this stage any yield of this nature is a good option over FDs. VPEL does not have any upcoming projects as far as I know, and would generate cash and pay out dividends consistently. It is also the largest out of all listed Hydro companies.

PAP has been saving HPWR from even worse results. HPWR posted a huge loss for the last quarter.

VLL has projects in its pipeline and has recently commissioned a new plant. Need to see how it will impact its results next quarters.

HPWR wrote off the thermal power operation thats why there is a huge drop due to the impairment. VPEL is seen as a good dividend paying share. A dividend is due this month looking at the history. They did not pay in January so a dividend is due.

If there is a demand like for PAP we can see some movement of the share before the dividend.

I remember before 2010 some one told we found oil when Mahinda election campain. But no oil after the election.

As I know Champika is a person who was using his education good way not like G L Peries.

If this gas are found we wish Sri Lanka will use those gas for our economic development. Not to be a Nijeria but to be like Qatar/UAE. Countries that are mentioned above are just for example.

If this is going to happen,i would be a good time for SL.
but as Market R told these type of talk issued by time to time in the recent history of SL.
