An individual in pursuit of a porcupine found dead in a burrow

19 November 2019 11:38 pm -

Ganemulla police said that the body of an individual who got stuck in a burrow while in pursuit of a porcupine at Kossinna in Ganemulla was taken out with much effort.

The deceased, Ajith Warnakulasooriya is a 36-year-old resident of Kadawatha.

The deceased, a worker at a site in Kossinna, had gone in pursuit of a porcupine with two other workers while they were walking along the road last night. The workers informed the owner of the site after it was revealed that the deceased had not returned. After they visited the place, they had witnessed a torchlight inside the burrow and had informed the police.

The body of the deceased had been taken out using a backhoe loader along with the assistance of the fire fighting service of the Gampaha Municipal Council after excavating the 15 feet deep burrow.

Ganemulla police had taken measures to send the body to the Gampaha General Hospital.

Further investigations would be conducted by the Ganemulla police. (Thilakaratne Dissanayake)
