    This is about up coming IPO.

    IPO price Rs 8.00
    Shares offered 120 Million
    Value of Shares Rs. 960 Million
    20% of the company will be issued to General Public.

    The company is a property based company.

    Parkland, RIL Property Ltd owns the Parkland Building at no 33. Park Street Colombo 2.

    72.3% of the IPO will be utilized for refurbishing the Ready wear building. Rest will be utilized for expansion of BreadTalk network.

    I have been to Bread Talk once and that place is one of the most expensive bakery i've been. we have Perera&Sons, Sen Sal, Fab - reasonably priced qualities bakeries serving the masses of the population and also some well established expensive bakers such as Sponge so who is there target market? I think it's the tiny niche of the population who need a place for a business meeting or urgent work to do. I look for companies that appeal to the mass population who is need of spending and can Bread Talk fit in?

    Just another fad created by media only.
    Given the shrinking spending power of many and spreading diabetes like wildfire in the country, these establishments would not have longer staying power in the business.
    Unless diversification keeping the Bread Talk as their facade.

    Sponge seems to do good business. Breadtalk has multiple outlets, but will it becomes something like odel?

    Breadtalk aside, main business is Parkland office building which is located in a good spot. Also proceeds to refurbish another building and then to rent it out. So big profits might take some time to come to the income statement. Not bad at 0.4-0.5x book value

    It has been almost 1 year since the last thread of this post and had happened considerable changes in the company.

    They had issued and completed a rights issue at 8/=.

    They have completed the BreadTalk expansion and that business has reached the break even.

    READYWEAR refurbishment will be completed by this year or early next year.

    The most notable change was the acquisition of UML. Now they are the parent company of this high dividend paying the motor company.

    With the new ownership of the significant extent of a land bank through UML. RIL will go for new Real estate development sector.

    UML sold TWO & Three wheel segments which was Under TVS brand. With that they also have over 1Bn cash in hand.

    So, we can expect good news in mid term.
