Today among so many shares in red, I noticed RICH gaining a few cents.

Rating review for RICH.

Fitch assigned National Long term rating of A. The outlook is stable. Looks promising..........

IFC, Canada climate change program to invest USD 15 MN in Richard  Pieris for green retail network.

IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, with the support of the Government of Canada, will invest $15 million in Sri Lankan retail chain Richard Pieris Distributors Limited. The investment will help the company expand its modern retail network, support job creation, and develop local supply chains. It will also be used to install solar panels on company store rooftops.
The financing consists of a $7.5 million loan from IFC’s own account and a further $7.5 million from the IFC-Canada Climate Change Program. The Program promotes private sector financing for clean energy projects.
“IFC’s support comes at an important time as we step up our operations and widen our network of branches across the island,” said Dr. Sena Yaddehige, Group Chairman of Richard Pieris & Co. PLC. “Through this planned expansion, we will contribute towards improving food safety and consumer access to better quality food products at affordable prices.”
The investment into Richard Pieris Distributors will help 0create over 800 jobs directly and an even larger number of jobs indirectly by 2020. It will also help the company adopt green building measures and promote climate-smart technologies.
The Government of Canada’s contribution to the IFC-Canada Climate Change Program has helped make this financing package viable. To date, Canada has provided close to 271 million Canadian dollars to the program, to climate change investments that are generating significant environmental and economic benefits in developing countries.
“The Government of Canada is pleased to invest in renewable energy and green jobs in developing countries. Through its partnership with IFC, Canada is working to foster sustainable economic growth and contribute to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions, setting the stage for a cleaner, more prosperous global future,” said the Honorable Catherine McKenna, Canada’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change.
Sri Lanka’s modern trade sector currently constitutes less than 20 percent of total trade in the country, which is significantly lower than other emerging markets. The country’s retail sector has significant potential to contribute towards economic growth in an environment of steady economic development.
“As the sector grows, companies like Richard Pieris Distributors are in a prime position to expand their networks, boost employment opportunities through small businesses in their supply chains, and create value for consumers,” said Amena Arif, IFC’s Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives.
Sri Lanka is a priority country for IFC’s work in South Asia. IFC’s committed portfolio in Sri Lanka covers projects across a range of sectors, including infrastructure, tourism, renewable energy, finance, and healthcare. IFC also provides advisory services to promote sustainable growth among small and medium enterprises by facilitating access to finance, and by offering capacity-building and training opportunities.

Richard Pieris were the first to finance electric cars in Sri Lanka. Thus renewable energy is a genuine concern of Richard Pieris group.

Can we guess any reason what RICH is delaying the dividend announcement ?  Is this because of the loss in plantation sector or they collecting  capitol for their future expansions ?

Dr Yaddehige is buying... is it a sign of anything..

Looking at the results, can anyone say what they have done with the Kegalle dividend ? my accounts reading knowledge is limited. Thanks in advance.

RICH cashflow statement is not detailed. We have to wait and see in annual report.

But only the dividend paid to 20% will be shown as cash out as rest is retained within group and consolidated

I think we can visualize what happened.....

Imagine you had some money in your wallet. Then what you did was, take some money out of it and put inside your pocket.

Now, you need not much worry about loosing the wallet.

Since the Kegalle shares are owned by RPC Plantations Management (a sub of RICH), the Dividend gets consolidated under Group Account. (RPC takes the dividend as part of its Profit).

The "Other Operating Income = Rs 918 million" in RICH Group Account maybe the Dividend RICH received from RPC as a result of the Kegalle Dividend.

It will not appear in the Cash Flow Group account as it appears under the Top Line "Profit before tax and non controlling interests from continuing operations" which must include the Dividend from subsidiary RPC, consolidated in RICH Group Account. This is a logical presumption in the absence of a note to the Account clarrifying this.

Now we are evaluating 2015/16 annual year performance of RICH.N0000

RICH consist of Retail sector, Plantation sector, Tyre Sector, Plastic & Furniture Sector, Rubber sector and Financial Service Sector.

This company gets the maximum benefit of synergy where rubber plantation helps to tires and REXP and having retail helps to furniture and plastics. Further the company head hunted top employees from a leading finance company and added a finance company to its subsidiary list which by now  provide
operating profit of 217 Mn which is 32% growth on YoY basis.

EPS recorded again a value above Rs 1.00 even though plantation sector did not contributed as expected.

Net Assets of the company is growing steadily.

Company is a dividend payer and even at current level its dividend payout is above 5%.

Dr Yaddehige continuously buying. as per my calculation he already in the top 10.

yes. he is absorbing the selling pressure like worlds end. but huge run is unlikely at the moment. RICH will show its colors when plantations perform. RICH is range bound at the moment. good counter to experiment hunter sniper trading methods. even if trial failed, we have a promising counter in our PF!

I don't think we'll need to wait till plantation performance. their retail and plastic also growing rapidly... let's see...
