    Like many other diversified businesses Richard Pieris company is also incorporated before 1948. The first business of the company which was a filling station started in 1932. Revenue grew by more than 400% in the first five years. The issued capital was Rs 50,000 and that was enough to provide jobs for 70 employees.

    Today the company is well managed by Dr Sena Yaddehige and the team.

    Revenue of the company is raised from 6 main categories..

    Profit contribution is not based on Revenue contribution. Plantation sector contribute to 19% of revenue but only 4% of Profit.

    Its mirror effect is represented by Finance Sector where revenue contribution is mere 3% but profit contribution is 24%

    Revenue growth fits into the trend line.. However profitability is fluctuating...Higher exposure to Plantation sector can be a reason..

    The strict cost controlling can be seen even with the way the annual reports are printed.. Most of annual reports of the company is in black and white compared to many colourful annual reports of even small hotels like Hunnas and Ramboda..

    This was one of my favourites earlier, but gloomy future of plantations kept me away from this, but it looks like other sectors are showing signs of growth, Retail and Financial
