traderone wrote:What would be the Future outlook for CCS now that the govt has decided to impose higher taxes for soft drinks and sugar containing products.
CCS was growing above the expected level in 2015/16 thanks to FMCG boom.

That is because people had more disposable income. Yet FMCG bubbles will not continue when governments have to govern with earning taxes.
In addition to that Government is keen of sugar level of soft drinks.
When picture warning was to be applied there was a shock for CTC yet the results were not affected as feared. Sugar labels will be like that..
Yet being a cousmer when you become more knowledge on what you buy and consume you will not blame the government.. Government has to protect its people..We Sri Lankans are used to high sugar, salt, fat and carbs.. That's what our taste buds used to ..So one best way is to impose tax and the other is to educate.
***********************************************************
As an investor what your concern is none of above...Will CCS be attractive in future as well..
Yes same as CTC... CCS will apply simple changes and will grow.. Good companies always have brilliant people to develop new strategies...like moving into tastiers which are not harmful..
When we were small there was argument on Saccharine.. In Donald Keough's book by coca-cola CEO ( Ten commandments for business failure) he talked about this restrictions on saccharine... Saccharine phobia did not frightened away coca cola investors...

one of the reasons for share price to rerate sharply.
same story with Hema's. their foray into Bangladesh was one of the catalyst for foreign buying. Kumarika one of their soap brands is #1 selling soap in bangladesh.
Both counters - Foreign Buying.

Sri Lanka’s iconic Elephant House has signed up with a UK-based bottling facility for the production of 1.5 litre PET plastic variants of its much-loved Necto, Cream Soda and Orange Barley beverages.
Planned to ultimately facilitate increased exports into the European market, this new bottling deal by Sri Lanka’s beverages pioneer immediately targets sustained expansion into key European markets such as Switzerland, France, Italy and Germany. This undertaking will be accomplished with the support of Universal Suppliers Limited, Elephant House’s official beverages distributor for Europe.
Importantly, this new agreement follows more than 13 years of continuous European market growth for Elephant House Beverages, which already exports to UK, Switzerland, France, Germany, Norway, Italy, Belgium, Denmark and the Czech Republic. Additionally, the company’s beverages unit also exports to most countries in the Middle East, as well as even China, India and Korea.
At the same time, Elephant House has also recorded significant gains in the UK, with its beverages currently being carried at Tesco’s as well as the Walmart-owned Asda, the country’s first- and second-largest supermarket chains in terms of market share.
“Europe is the next big step for Elephant House in terms of export growth, and we are gearing up for it by expanding our range of offerings so as to meet our strategic goal of significantly expanding our presence. We are confident that it can achieve even bigger gains in Europe over the coming months, especially considering the already existing demand for Necto, Cream Soda and Orange Barley amongst our European consumers,” said Ceylon Cold Stores PLC Head of Beverages/John Keells Holdings Vice President Daminda Gamlath.
