Sri Lanka's February tourist arrivals up 16.7 pct yr/yr

According to SLTDA figures, Sri Lanka's tourist arrivals rose 16.7 percent in February compared to the same period in 2014 with the arrival of 165,541 tourists compared to the 141,878 arrived in February 2014.

Most of the tourist arrivals were from East Asia. For the month of February 68,105 tourists arrived in the island, 33.8% more than in February 2014.

Tourist arrivals from Eastern Europe declined in February by 20.9 percent.

Chinese and Indians are coming here for employments in on going development projects. they never bring a cent and earn a considerable wages which was supposed to go to our local labors.

apart from china and india, yes our tourism industry is getting ok. but will not boom without casinos. tourism is of turtle speed while the hotel maintenance cost is remain high. Sri Lanka has most expensive hotel rates in the region as well.

well, we have jungles, beaches and wonderful places. Sri Lanka tourist board has not taken any single step to organize any programs, events or workshop in order to get tourist attraction. only thing we have is "Kandy Perahara", which was a sacred event of Buddhists and tourist board is using it. other than that, do we have any organized events to attract them?

Sri Lankan Tourism and Environment and Constructions and Big Projects

Sri Lanka is an Island rich in Natural resources. Wild Life, Beaches and other natural resources are the main reason for us to attract tourists from all over the world. After the 30 ears of War, the tourism industry is booming daily. Tourism is based on different factors all over the world such as Culture (Cambodia and Nepal), Entertainment ( Dubai and Bangkok) and Natural resources ( Beaches – Maldives and Wild Life – Africa).
In terms of all these factors most of the people over the world are willing to spend their holidays more closer to the Nature and Wild life as a result of understanding the value of environment and identifying the eternal bond of environment and human being survival on earth. This is the main reason which Sri Lanka gets more and more tourists.
In terms of Wild life Sri Lankan Elephants, Leopards and Birds and plants are famous among Wild Life Lovers. Also, Sri Lankan beach stay is a part of each tourists Holiday plan at the end.
Anyway, with the increasing demand to be closer to the nature, pollution has become a key issue for Sri Lankan environmentalists. Also, with the fast growing Economies, modern social trends and technology , Does the Sri Lanka make an effort to protect our Natural Resources with an understanding the value of the natural resources in terms of sustainability of the country and economic growth? This is the question we all need to raise in public with the increasing levels of pollution and mal practices against Wild life in Sri Lanka.
There is no existence of Tourism in Sri Lanka without Wild Life and Nature. Statistical proves are limited categorizing Tourists main interests about Sri Lanka. But when having discussions with different Tour Operators in Sri Lanka it’s obvious that the interest towards Wild Life and Nature is increasing drastically. Specially foreign family travellers are willing to show their young kids Wild Lif and nature more and more and keep them more closer to the environment.
Therefore, it’s important that Sri Lankan Authorities and citizens understand this basic properly and implement the policies and actions to conserve the Natural environment. We cannot use the Environment as an Economic development tool as long as we treat the nature in a bad way. If the resources are degrading, its not easy to generate those and bring the natural balance to the level it was. Therefore, conservation is the only method we have to protect our environment. This is where we need to have feasibility studies before starting massive projects and practical legal procedures.

The corrupt prices were organizing events but the shoeshine boys didn't like corruption and was jealous of one family making money so now we have educated princes and their father in laws making money with financial gilmarts

Too much democracy for shoeshine boys leads to gridlock. Try to open a casino and opposition from shoehine boys, Try to have a night race around the maligawa, opposition, Try to open a port city, opposition. Suddha will go to Singapore without coming here.

Thailand's brothels = 20 million tourists a year

I think the reason being that guys running these shops don't know what to market.
Basically their poor knowledge of the history of the country is making them marketing wrong product.
