A court order has been obtained to probe bank accounts of Colombo District Parliamentarian Duminda Silva, as drug kingpin ‘Wela Sudha’ testified to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) he paid money to the politician, police Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said.

“A court order has been obtained to investigate all bank accounts and data registered under the name of Duminda Silva. Further legal measures will be taken accordingly,” said SSP Rohana.

Wela Sudha, who was arrested in Pakistan and later deported to Sri Lanka, has told the CID investigation officers that he paid Rs. 2.5 million to the Parliamentarian as a commission.

The CID currently interrogates Wela Sudha under a three months detention order on the details on how he managed to carry out drug related operations from Pakistan.

Samantha Kumara alias Wele Suda was arrested in Pakistan and brought to Sri Lanka, on 14 January.

Wele Sudha fled the country, as the CID launched open inquiries into his activities in 2010. Wele Sudha’s wife was taken into custody at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and later enlarged on bail in 2012. His assets including two luxury apartments, two houses in Bagatalle Road, two houses in Pannipitiya and Madiwela, 16 perches land in Dehiwala and 14 perches in Nedimale had been confiscated by the Colombo High Court.

It should be Rs. 2.5Mn per day . Anyhow Duminda will get away with this with less damage by the power of money. This is Sri Lanka. The person who you could not be bought for Rs. 100,000/- could be bought for Rs.1.0Mn. if that is not enough they could rise it to Rs.10.0Mn. I know a wealthy politician in UPFA now, got away with bribing a top judiciary in a very controversial case. Due to sensitive info I could not disclose the names here

The reality maybe it cannot exist for ever Kass . It has to change if we are ever to become even shades of a developed country.
( atleast 50%of singapore). We cannot keep saying it. Just read what you said you self. Isn't it a very bad situtation?

Some government pushed by the right minded people needs to change it if they truly love SL. This is for the sake of the overall country.
Well this government promised such . Let see how much they do.

I too want them to make the judiciary impartial much as possible ( no political partiality) else no foreign investor will have faith even.
Not to mention wise locals. To be frank even the expropriation on SUGA, HDEV was done wrong. Just look at how many small time investors are stuck with shares without money. I saw couple in this forum.
