Sri Lanka's First Capital sells Rs500mn debentures

Mar 05, 2014 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's First Capital Holdings Plc said it had raised 500 million rupees from a debt issue which was oversubscribed on the opening day.
The company offered 5 million senior, unsecured, redeemable debentures of 100 rupees each.

"We are greatly encouraged by the investor confidence implicit in the extremely positive response to our debenture issue,” said DilshanWirasekara, Deputy CEO of First Capital Holdings said in a statement.

"The success of this issue will provide a good platform for the company to build on its strong performance in the current financial year, in 2014-15."

First Capital offered 3-year debentures paying 13.50 percent a year, 4-years paying 13.75 percent and 5-years paying 14 percent.

The offer closed on March 04.
The funds will be used to retire existing short-term debt.

They were rated 'BBB+' by RAM Ratings Lanka.

මෙසේ තහනමට ලක් කළ සියලුම බැංකු ගිණුම් එකින් එක ගෙන පරීක්ෂාවට ලක්කිරීමට මහ බැංකුවෙන් පියවර ගෙන ඇති අතර එසේ කරනු ලැබ ඇත්තේ සේවක වැටුප් ගෙවීම වැනි එදිනෙදා කටයුතු  කරගෙන යෑමට එම සමාගමට පහසුකම් සැලසීම සඳහාය.

කලින් තහනම් කළ වත්කම්වල වටිනාකම මුදලින් රුපියල් බිලියන 12.5කි. මෙයින් රුපියල් බිලියන 7.5ක් මුදල් වන අතර ඉතිරි ඒවා සුරැකුම්පත් වේ. එම තහනම ඉවත් කර ගැනීම සඳහා පර්පචුවෙල් සමාගම් සමූහය ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණයට ඉදිරිපත් කළ අභියාචනය ද ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කෙරිණි.

 
මුදල් විශුද්ධිකරණය රෙගුලාසි සහ පරිපාලනය කරනු ලබන්නේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා මහ බැංකුවේ මූල්‍ය බුද්ධි ඒකකය විසිනි. පර්පචුවෙල් සමාගම ප්‍රාථමික හා ද්විතීය වෙළෙඳපොළේ කරන සියලු වෙළෙඳ කටයුතු තාවකාලිකව නවතා දැමීමට මූල්‍ය මණ්ඩලය තීරණ කර තිබිණි.

I feel like throwing up when I look at his saga.

There are millions who cannot make ends meet or feed themselves.
When billions of public money went down the drain ,  and after the initial ha ho
what is happening now ?

I appreciate the good foresighted moves taken by this government ( which some
may not see) , but this saga was a sheer disgrace and how it is handled now
is worse.
