Lanka cricket now laughing stock says Arjuna
Ranatunga slammed the decision to send the national cricket team to India after the team was thrashed by the Indians in the ongoing series.
The Sri Lanka cricket board had agreed to send the national team to India for a five match series after the West Indies withdrew halfway through a series in India over issues with the West Indies cricket board.
Even before the Sri Lankans landed in India the team players were quoted in the media as saying they were not prepared for the series as it was a snap decision.
Sri Lanka eventually lost the five match series after being thrashed in the first three matches and during the fourth match today Indian batsman Rohit Sharma created history by scoring 264 runs in the match.
Ranatunga said that the Sri Lanka team was preparing for the 2015 cricket world cup when they were suddenly sent to India and that decision seemed to have backfired.
“The Sri Lankan cricket board and the Sports Ministry must take the blame for sending the team to India,” he said.
Ranatunga said that the team selectors and coach as well as the captain had said the tour to India will be good to prepare the team for the 2015 world cup but instead it seems to have demoralized them.

(Has anyone tried to apply visa abroad?
If not try and then you will see.
Recently, at the Singapore Border post, one Immigration official commented "This is not Sri Lanka", when I said I have no hotel booking but will find once I go out).
