What would happen if the majority of the opposition's parliamentary seats were to be vacated?
Will there be a general election as a result?

A lot of people misdiagnose the issue at hand. They say its economic or political problem. In my view it is neither. The current issue is not Political problem because we have shown that an executive president can be sent home (almost) by sheer people power and that sovereignty rests with the People of this country . Nor is the current issue is economic; we have not seen (at least yet) economy shrinking quarter after quarter with unemployment going up and up to such an extent that people are looking for jobs anywhere and every where . Other than casual workers and perhaps some agricultural workers, this is not the case either
So that is the issue at hand? It is a problem of liquidity, more specifically USD liquidity. That is what will cause the above economic problems (if not already) in the months to come. And in finance we have a saying "LACK OF LIQUIDITY KILLS FAST". Plain and simple, clear to many by now
Solution, despite all political deals and alliances is who has the best plan to improve USD liquidity. If whoever comes to power could ensure that USD liquidity is restored, we will have breathing space. Otherwise its a slow and painful death bed awaits for months to come for our economy

Why it can't be achieved in Sri Lanka is primarily due to corruption.
If this can be tackled swiftly, things will fall into place quickly.
My choice to do that is FM Sarath Fonseka.
We need a DOer than just those who are good at making policies.

Thus Born the ARAGALAYA
It was not a rare incident and a few more followed some losing their lives, others ending up with serious burn injuries and losing property as well.
Later, it was revealed that the importers were trying to maximize their profits by changing the composition of the mixture.
followed by a shortage of cooking gases (LP), and queues started forming in front of places where they dispense cylinders.
Those queues became longer, and so did the waiting time to get one cylinder, and it was not because of the length of the queues but because we had no foreign currency to import LP gases from other countries.
How many people have lost their lives queuing up for a mere LP gas cylinder?
This was forgotten with the shortage of petrol and diesel at sheds.
The same story of forming queues in front of sheds was repeated just like in the case of LP gas, and some lines were longer than 6 kilos at times.
Some have even started boasting that after waiting more than 36 hours in the queue, they started to secure just 10 litres of fuel.
Unfortunately, again, a few more lives were lost while waiting for fuel for days in queues.
The kids and pregnant women lost their lives due to the non-availability of essential medicines in hospitals.
Many started to indulge in panic buying, but this was for those who could afford to stock up and not those who are daily wage earners and small business owners.
All of those were purely due to mismanagement of the country’s economy by incompetent people.
Thus born the Aragalaya.
And some idiots start to ask what Aragalaya has achieved.
One is that all those who were responsible for taking the country to its knees went hiding from the public and the culmination was that the president of the country, who was elected with 6.9 million votes, had to flee the country in the guise of darkness to seek refuge in another country.
The Aragalaya was not responsible for any of the economic disasters, but it was responsible for raising public awareness.
So, in support of that, the PUBLIC comes in hordes from all four corners of the country.
Now the government is using terror tactics to suppress the Aragalaya.
They may succeed in the short term, but it will not last long.
If anyone thinks that Aragalaya is a couple of ramshackle tents where hooligans in uniforms can come and destroy or beat unarmed civilians mercilessly, then they will be in for a shock soon.
ARAGALAYA will continue and it will bring the desired results as well.

Real "Aragalaya" should have started when SLS lady said it's ok to eat little bit of poison, and all the imports contain toxic.කිත්සිරි ද සිල්වා wrote:It all came to a head with a liquid petroleum gas cylinder exploding in someone’s kitchen.
