    Rome was governed democratically by a senate. Rome faced a threat from invaders and Senate ( Parliament ) decided that its wise to Appoint a DICTATOR with absolute power (executive powers) to lead an Army against the invader.

    They found a strong bodied farmer
    Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus
    and appointed him as a dictator for a period of six months. He finished the invaders within 15 days and handed over the POWER back to Senate. He never went to Judiciary to check his Expiry date of Dictatorship.

    Yes YK, power corrupts but in democratic systems we have checks & balance systems inbuilt to deal with them. However, Sri Lanka has a different story to tell the world. We are still living in a tribal society where power fulls can get away easily even after they have been found accountable. Recent incident in the parliament is an example.
