The small business started in 1991 with a single household cow, has been sprouted throughout the country with the involvement of thousands of milk farmers, hundreds of employees and many of suppliers up to a national enterprise by now.

Kamburupitiya Milk Processing Plant which is fully automated has the capacity of producing 7000 cups per hours and also has the capacity of processing over 10000 liters at ones.

I can remember they introduced 'Yogurt Mutti' - Yogurt in 750ml  clay pots- in Matara  in 1990's.   The quality was good and the  price was Rs. 25/- per pot for many years. We bought many mutti s per month, cheap, tasty and a big quantity in single serve. Bada pirenna yogurt kanawa.
Their product was very famous among office crowd in Matara area those days.

I think with that concept they created a regular market for their products during initial years.

The business, which began as a household industry in 1991 with a couple of cows, was registered as a limited liability company in 2007 under the name of Lucky Lanka Milk Processing Company Limited.

The company now buys fresh milk from thousands of farmers and produces yoghurt and other dairy products and distributes islandwide under the brand name ‘Lucky’.

The product range comprises of flavoured yoghurts, fresh fruit and drinking yoghurt, pasteurized milk, sterilized milk, UHT milk, flavoured milk and fruit drink bottles. The two most recent product introductions by the company were its chocolate-flavoured yoghurt and milk toffees.

Lucky Lanka has provided direct and indirect employment to over 500 workers and also boasts of the country’s best cold distribution network with 120 refrigerated vehicles.
