Thailand calls for free trade deal with Sri Lanka
The official call for an FTA between Thailand and Sri Lanka was made by Thai Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Somkid Jatusripitak at a business forum in Colombo organised by the Export Development Board.
Both countries want to triple trade, now at 500 million US dollars, by 2020, the EDB said in a statement.
“Thailand is proposing a Free Trade Agreement with Sri Lanka,” it quoted Jatusripitak as saying.
He was accompanied by Thai ministers of commerce and industry, and the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs.
He said a 2015-2019, five year development cooperation program between the two countries will focus on small business co-operation.
