    This bank is dedicated for Housing Loans. However the new Act No 45 of 2011 enabled the bank to Diversify its activities while keeping focus on Housing Loans.

    The highest loan disbursements of the bank recorded in 2014. That is 27,000 loan facilities at the value of Rs 9 Billion.

    Sri Lanka's total housing finance outstanding is around Rs 340 Billion which represents about 10% of GDP . Researchers project that it may reach 20% by 2020.

    This is a good news for Housing Financiers as well as all construction related companies.

    Sri Lanka in general show an overall growth after 2011 as if climbing one slab up. That is shown in Revenue chart above and other finance companies, vehicle companies all prove that.

    Yet EPS shows the efficiency of management than just sailing with the wind.

    Palm Top mobile banking is efficiently used by PLC.N and surprisingly even HDFC.N is also not far behind this new technology.

    HDFC has already got 15,000 active accounts through Palm Top mobile banking.

    Palm Top banking is competing with informal financial sector widely spread in Pettah and commercial hubs and known as Daily-Collectors.

    HDFC is really doing a service by tapping these neglected sectors of low income earners.

    Annual report states that the bank increase the financial literacy by providing housing loans against EPF.
    EPF monies are left untouched, we raise awareness of how employees can avail themselves of loans against their EPF balances to upgrade, improve or purchase a house.


    Housing loans are considered affordable if the monthly installment is less than 40% of the householder's income.

    While having all these EPF collateral and lending criteria, the NPL of the bank is increasing.

    NPL has gone up to 9.81% from 7.26% of 2013.

    HDFC is now diversifying the product portfolio and upto 2014 there were no leasing facilities granted.

    I am not a trader nor an expert on technical analysis.

    For me to enter I would wait and watch carefully... in this up trend of many other shares no one want to enter HDFC.. so the price may further come down.. yet when we evaluate past prices of the share this is good value.. so if you want enter very slowly.. may be 100 shares or even less per time..

    For me to enter I would wait and watch carefully... in this up trend of many other shares no one want to enter HDFC.. so the price may further come down.. yet when we evaluate past prices of the share this is good value.. so if you want enter very slowly.. may be 100 shares or even less per time..

    HDFC being a specialized bank for Housing, found it difficult to solely depend on housing loans as banks compete in this sector. Thus the bank has reduced its 96% dominance to 89% in housing sector. It is expected to reach 70: 30 ratio in housing loans to other loans by 2017.

    Company is evaluating possibility of increasing the capital and the means to do so.

    HDFC gets Rs250m capital injection from tax-payers

    ECONOMYNEXT - Sri Lanka's HDFC Bank, a publicly traded mortgage lender with the state as main shareholder said it has received a 250 million rupee injection from the Treasury to meet capital requirements.

    HDFC said in a stock exchange filing it had received the money in the form of a non-convertible perpetual debt.

    Together with internally generated funds, the firm said it had met a 5.0 billion rupees minimum capital requirement set by the central bank.

    The central bank had given approval for the Additional Tier 1 (AT1) bond to be included in capital. (Colombo/Aug04/2019)
