Flying, the Safest Mode of Transport - Page 8 Empty Re: Flying, the Safest Mode of Transport

Sat Apr 22, 2017 11:46 pm
See the difference in how AA handled the situation:

American Airlines immediately released a statement on the incident, in sharp contrast to United Airlines’ handling of their recent violent removal of a customer from a flight. In the statement, American states that the mother and her family have been booked on another flight with upgraded status, and the employee has been removed from duty.

Here is the text of their statement in full:

American Airlines’ comment on Flight 591
10:30 p.m. CT

We have seen the video and have already started an investigation to obtain the facts. What we see on this video does not reflect our values or how we care for our customers. We are deeply sorry for the pain we have caused this passenger and her family and to any other customers affected by the incident. We are making sure all of her family’s needs are being met while she is in our care. After electing to take another flight, we are taking special care of her and her family and upgrading them to first class for the remainder of their international trip.

The actions of our team member captured here do not appear to reflect patience or empathy, two values necessary for customer care. In short, we are disappointed by these actions. The American team member has been removed from duty while we immediately investigate this incident.

With this type of super crisis management, i would not be surprised even if AA's stock prices would rise after the incident !

Flying, the Safest Mode of Transport - Page 8 Empty China enters dog-fight with Boeing, Airbus

Sat May 06, 2017 12:44 am
China's home-grown C919 passenger jet completed its long-delayed maiden flight on Friday, a major first step for Beijing as it looks to raise its profile in the global aviation market and boost high-tech manufacturing at home.

Under overcast skies, the white, green and blue aircraft, with "C919" emblazoned on its tail, touched down at Shanghai's international airport after an 80-minute flight to cheers from thousands of dignitaries, aviation workers and enthusiasts.

The jet is a symbol of China's ambitions to muscle into a global jet market estimated to be worth $2 trillion over the next two decades, as well as of Beijing's broader "Made in China 2025" plan to spur home-made products, from medicines to robots.

Flying, the Safest Mode of Transport - Page 8 Empty Pilot Slept For 2 Hours, Leaving Trainee To Handle An Aircraft With 305 Passengers

Mon May 08, 2017 8:40 am
It was two weeks ago when we were rattling our minds regarding what United Airlines did to Asian passenger.

Just two days after that, we saw another video where a mother was knocked by one of the flight attendants.

What we have for you now will not only anger you to no bounds but will also make you reconsider whether we should ever take flights or not! Pakistan International Airlines has recently taken a pilot off his duty.

Serving as a senior pilot, the person in charge decided to take a nap during an Islamabad-London flight, putting the lives of 305 passengers aboard at risk.

Am no expert but if Srilankan wants to make some decent money, they should pay more attention to their high yield sectors and sadly European sectors are not in that league.

Cheap oil is there (ME) for topping up for long sector flights but given the other incidental expenditure involved in another stop nullify that gains is my take.

Flying, the Safest Mode of Transport - Page 8 Empty Singapore Airlines knocks Qatar Airways off the top spot in global airline ranking

Sun Jun 18, 2017 8:33 am
The flag carrier of Singapore has taken the top spot in the world airline ranking published this week by AirHelp, a technology company that provides legal services to airline passengers traveling into or out of the European Union.

AirHelp has analyzed the performance of airlines all around the world, considering factors such as punctuality, services and passenger experience. Ticket pricing is not taken into account in the ranking. The freshly published list sees Qatar Airways drop to third place, due to its punctuality. Singapore Airlines come top for punctuality, edging its way into first place overall. Etihad Airways completes the top three, coming in second place.

Flying, the Safest Mode of Transport - Page 8 Z_pi-Emirates-to

For the first time in Sri Lanka’s aviation history, Emirates will launch its double-deck Airbus A380 aircraft on flights to Colombo commencing August 14.

An official from Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation said this service would be a once-a-week flight and it would operate with a stopover in a destination in the Far East. The Airbus A380 flies to Sri Lanka subsequent to the airport runway expansion concluded last April.

The Airbus A380 is a double-deck, wide-body, four-engine jet airliner manufactured by European manufacturer Airbus.

It is the world’s largest passenger airliner and the airports at which it operates have upgraded facilities to accommodate it.
