    අද බොහෝ බෞද්ධයන් මෝඩයන් සේ හැසිරීම දැකීම අතිශය ශෝක ජනක සිදුවීමකි. ඔවුන් අද බුදු දහම මනින්නේ තමන්ගේ සිත තුල එය වඩා, එයින් තමන්ගේ දුක, අසහනය නැති කරගැනීමෙන් නොවේ. මොකක් හෝ ස්වභාවික ව්‍යසනයකින් බුදු පිළිමයක් ඉතිරි වුවහොත් "දැක්ක නේද බුදු දහමේ සත්‍යය.." කියා පවසා ඔවුන් හුදු මෝඩ අන්ධ භාක්තියකට බුදු දහම තල්ලු කරයි.

    අපේ රටේ, පමණක් නොව, ලෝකයේ විවිධ තැන් වල එක එක විපත් සිදුවී බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමා විනාස වෙයි. දැන් ඒ විනාස වන පමණට කියා පාන්නේ බුදු දහම අසත්‍යයි කියාද? බුදු දහමේ සත්‍යය මනින්නේ බුදු පිළිමයක් ඉතුරු වූ හෝ කැඩුණු පමණින් නොව, බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ දේශනා කල වදාළ, දුක නැති කිරීමේ පණිවිඩයෙන් තමන්ගේ දුක, අසහනය, කඳුල දුරු වන්නේ නම් පමණි. එසේ නැතිව බුදු දහම ඇත්තේ එක එක මෝඩ මිනිසුන්ට බුදු පිළිමයක් ඉතුරු වූ පමණින් "අනේ අන්න බුදු දහමේ සත්‍යය" කියා මෝඩ චූන් ගැනීමට නොවේ.

    තිත්ත වුනත් ඇත්ත මේකයි. ලංකාවේ බුදු දහමෙන් දුක නිවාගන්නට, මේ අසහනයෙන් ගැලවෙන මගක් සොයා ගවේෂණය කරන්නන් දුලභය. සුලභ වන්නේ ඉහත කී මෝඩ චූන් ගන්නන් පමණි.

    විනාශවන බුදුපිලිම තමයි නියම බුද්දාගම පෙන්වන්නේ. සියලුදේම අනිත්‍යයි.

    Impermanence is the reality of nature. With or without Buddhism this will be the truth.

    Reason is that it's not within our control (Anaathma). The destroyed Statue reminds us this reality.
