මේ රටේ විපක්‍ෂ නායකයා කවරෙක්‌ ද යන්න අදටත් රහසකි. එහෙත් වැඩි දෙනා මේ දිනවල උනන්දු වන්නේ ඒ රහස දැන ගැනීමට නොව 19 වන සංශෝධනය දිනුවත් නැතත් පාර්ලිමේන්තුව විසුරුවා හරින බවට යූ.එන්.පී. ඇමැතිවරුන් කියන කතන්දරය ඇත්ත ද යන්න දැන ගැනීමට ය. ඒ අතර රජයේ සේවකයන්ට පඩි ගෙවීම සඳහා රුපියල් කෝටි 400 ක්‌ ණය ලබා ගැනීමට ආණ්‌ඩුව ගෙනා යෝජනාව පරාජයට පත් වීමත් සමඟම ජනතාවගේ කුතුහලය වැඩි වී තිබේ. යෝජනාව පරාජයට පත් වීම නිමිති කරගෙන ආණ්‌ඩුව ඉල්ලා අස්‌විය යුතු ද නැද්ද යන්න මේ වෙලාවේදී තිබෙන ප්‍රශ්නයයි. එහෙත් අද අප මේ තීරුව ඔස්‌සේ කතා කරන්නට යන්නේ ඒ එකක්‌ ගැනවත් නොව වෙනත් මානුෂික ප්‍රශ්නයක්‌ ගැන ය. ඒ මෙසේ ය;

කොළඹ පිහිටි ඉතා ප්‍රසිද්ධ, ඉතා ජනප්‍රිය ඉතා හයි - ෆයි බාලිකා පාසලක ඇවිදීමට නොහැකි, රෝද පුටුවෙන් යන ආබාධිත දැරියක්‌ ඉගෙනුම ලබන්නීය. ඇය මේ පාසලට ඇතුළු වන්නේ මෙයට අවුරුදු 8 කට පෙර පළමුවැනි ශ්‍රේණියටය. මුල් කාලයේදී ඇගේ පන්තිය බිම් මහලේ තිබූ බැවින් දැරිය රෝද පුටුවක තබා පන්තියට ගෙනවුත් හැරලීමට මාපියනට හැකි විය. ගිය අවුරුද්දේ ඇගේ පන්තිය තිබුණේ දෙවන මහලෙහි ය. වැඩුණු දැරිය දෙවන මහලට ඔසවාගෙන ඒම දුෂ්කර වුව ද, මාපියෝ එය ඉටුකළහ. මේ අවුරුද්දේ දී දැරිය 8 වන පන්තියට සමත් වන අතර දැරියගේ පන්තිය ඇත්තේ පාසල් ගොඩනැඟිල්ලේ තුන්වන මහලේ ය. වැඩුණු දැරිය ඔසවාගෙන මහල් තුනක්‌ නැගීම දුෂ්කර වුව ද, රැකියාවෙන් ද ඉවත් වන දැරියගේ පියා ඇය වෙනුවෙන් සියලු කාලය කැප කරමින් සිය බිරියට සහාය දෙමින් දියණිය තුන්වන මහලේ පන්ති කාමරයට ඔසවාගෙන යැම දිගටම කරයි. ඒ අතර සිය දියණිය සිටින පන්තිය බිම් මහලට ගෙන යන ලෙස ද විදුහල්පතිනියගෙන් ඉල්ලයි. එහෙත් ඇය එම ඉල්ලීම ගණන් ගන්නේ නැත. ඇය කියන්නේ එක්‌ සිසුවියක වෙනුවෙන්, උඩුමහලේ සිට බිම් මහලට පන්ති කාමරයක්‌ රැගෙන යැමට බැරි බව ය. වැඩුණු දැරිය පන්තියට ඔසවාගෙන පැමිණීමෙන් පියා වැළකිය යුතු බව විදුහල්පතිනිය නියෝගයක්‌ කරන්නී ය. ඉන්පසු දැරිය ඔසවාගෙන උඩුමහලට නගිද්දී මව පය පැකිලී දැරිය සමඟ බිම වැටෙයි. දැරිය දැන් පාසල් යන්නේ නැත. ඇය තුන් මාසයක්‌ තිස්‌සේ ගෙදර ය. සිය දියණියගේ පන්ති කාමරය බිම් මහලට ගෙනෙන ලෙස ඉල්ලමින් ඇගේ පියා මානව හිමිකම් කොමිසමට බඩගාන්නේය.

මේ කතාව කියවන ඔබ මේ හයි - ෆයි බාලිකා විදුහලේ විදුහල්පතිනිය ගැන සිතන්නේ කුමක්‌ද? පහත සඳහන් කාරණාවලින් එකක්‌ ද?

1. ඇය මොළ කළඳක්‌ නැති බූරු දෙනක්‌ බව.

2. ඇය හිතක්‌ පපුවක්‌ නැති තිරිසන් ගැහැනියක බව.

3. ඇය දරුවකුගේ අගය නොදන්නා කාලකණ්‌ණි ගැහැනියක බව.

4. ඇයට ලොකු මුදලක්‌ ජරාව ලෙස දුන්නොත් දැරියගේ පන්ති කාමරය පාසලේ පහත මාලයට නොව ගෙදරට වුව ගෙනවිත් දීමට විදුහල්පතිනිය කටයුතු කරන බව.

5. ඇය සියලු ළමයින්ට එක ලෙස සලකන සමානාත්මතාව අගයන විදුහල්පතිනියක බව.

The principle is right. How ever, The ministry of education or  School committees or well wishers  should make a lift which can be helpful for disable and old in future.

No! Send the principal on rehab. Convert school to be the first school with disabled access. Urge companies making profits out of children's products to sponsor many more schools island wide.

This woman is a nasty one and she became all too powerful, after she got the backing of BayaGota then.

But how come now when the looting clan is no longer in power even.

This reminds me of something I wrote ( when I was grounded for 3 months after a sports accident and after hopping to the nearest bank branch to get some money withdrawn ) to Lankaweb a few years before even the War victory asking, "Are we ready for the day after"?

Ignoring or pretending people who are physically challenged are no longer exist has not changed, not only for our war heros but for anyone with such a difficulty.

When are we going to behave like a real Buddhist country?

Principal ain't right imho.. She could have made a judgement call with available facts which she didnt. Shuffling the classes to down stares would help the girl. This poor gal cannot walk, neither her parents can carry her for 2 floors as shes grown up now, and she had a track record of being a bright student.

What would you do if a similar thing happened to somebody u know? Would not u go on your knees and beg for kindness?

Apart from rules and regulations, educators are expected to abide by the spirit of education when dealing with children. The disabled(mentally or physically) are special children and society has an obligation to give them extra attention, not less. This should apply to adults as well.

Visakha Vidyalaya Reach Settlement With Mother In Dispute Over Disabled Child

Visakha Vidyalaya authorities on Friday (10) settled the matter pertaining to the disabled child, who was unable to attend school due to her disability, following discussions with the mother of the child.

The mother told Asian Mirror that the school authorities promised to bring the classroom of the child to the second floor of the building and provide a maid to take care of her necessities.

The mother also said that she and the school authorities will attend the hearing at Human Right Commission on April 21 and finalize the settlement.

We are still an uncivilized society!

People in high places with powers should not always think within the given instructions.
Teachers, Doctors have earned a very high esteem in the society and therefore should behave more humane, sensitively  and be able see beyond the knoll in front of them.
I am happy that an amicable solution have been found in this issue and let the child continues her studies well now without too much media and other attentions.
Let her be another child among thousand others (not a Paris Hilton or other spoilt brat always seeking media attention).
