Hmm there are a number of cities in Sri Lanka for number of different reasons.
Colombo.
Full credit goes to Gatabhaya Rajapakshe. It was a dirty old place few years ago n he transformed it into a clean n beautiful place. How much money we spent on this is another topic.
Galle.
Yes a beautiful place. A piece of european architecture, decent beaches, laid back life can be seen there.
Kandy.
My most favourite place in Sri lanka. I still prefer to walk around kandy lake. Good memories in the past as well :-) lake, Peradeniya, Bahirawakanda, hunnasgiri mountain range. Except a beach, that city has everything.
Ritigala
Another decent place in Sri Lanka.
Ambewela.
Cool climate, pictures sceneries, lakes covers by fog.
Dambulla.
Another good place. Depends on where u stay n what u do. National parks, history, lakes, etc
