Textured Jersey crowned industry leader in textile and apparel
Ranked among the Top 50 entities in Sri Lanka and the only mill to be listed in the LMD Top 100 ratings, TJL specialises in supplying knit fabrics to global fashion brands. Over the last decade TJL has also emerged as the clear leader in sustainable initiatives, covering the triple bottom line of economic, social and environmental aspects. These two coveted awards reinforce a consistent high performance which the company has demonstrated over several years.
TJL has so far also won over 14 prestigious awards in recognition of its contributions towards sustainability, easily the highest number of awards won by a textile manufacturer in Sri Lanka. Commenting on the awards, TJL CEO Sriyan de Silva Wijeyeratne said, “Being recognised for excellence and bestowed this high honour by the National Chamber of Commerce brings much joy to the entire TJ team. This will only inspire us to raise the bar even higher, as we pursue our aspirations for the next few years. Our unique concepts entwined with our values and standards have always formed the basis of our success.”
He further stated, “The real beauty of the company lies within our daily operations, where over a thousand people engage, on a daily basis, in upholding some of the highest global quality standards, which paved the way to receive all these accolades.”
Located in the Seethawaka Industrial Estate in Avissawella, the company, in its short history has been able to work with the best brands in the global fashion industry. It has been able to capture niche markets in manufacturing Viscose, Modal, Micro Modal and Tencel fabrics whilst incorporating the latest in technological advancements in its products. According to Wijeyeratne, TJL has re-engineered each step of its value-chain to match the dynamism of the fashion world.
He went on to add, “TJL is a ‘Green Minded’ company driven by the DNA of sustainability since its inception. We believe that our success should not come at the expense of the environment.”
Wijeyeratne further stated, “The company hopes to progress with responsibility and care for society and its stakeholders. TJL is accelerating its journey towards its goals, whilst focusing on the key pillars of innovativeness, partnering, customer centricity and cost efficacy together with sustainability.

An extract from the Financial statement (31/03/2015):
"Looking towards the future; recently enhanced capacity and strategic investments coming into fruition will place TJL on a solid growth platform for the coming year. As regional expansion plans move forward to secure TJL’s long term growth trajectory, the prospects of GSP Plus in the future would further augment TJL’s current momentum."
