Hotel Sector as well as Plantation Sector has shown some similarities. Instead of recording a steady income it often gets fluctuated based on variable factors. However certain companies of the same Industry never report profits but Net Assets value gets eroded over time..Some other companies declared dividends from time to time.

Companies like these are avoided by Fundamental Analysis based long-term investors but the Technical Analysis based traders may love the roller coaster by just putting Charts which cannot be easily understood by others.

The annual report however highlights an attitude change among tourists. Instead of booking super class hotel now the tourists prefer to shift into informal accommodations like small joints or houses sharing with a local family. Mirissa and Ella has become so popular without a single good star graded hotel nearby.

These threats are there for Tourism Sector.

When we look at the top ten share holders second and the third major share holders are on Margin Accounts of Union Bank and Pan Asia Bank where the percentage is 35% of ownership. George Stueart Company owned only 1.9% at 31 March 2019 and after one year ownership has increased to 48% and with the addition of Margin Account George Steuart owns 75%. When the third player Divasa Equity owns 9.8 through Pan Asia Banks margin facility the first three share holders own more than 83.8%.

Such information are useful for traders as all together top 20 owns 95.06% its very easy to pump up the price.

However this is not a Name Board only like Lanka Cement. Its a functional hotel chain. During this Christmas Season some hotels in Kalutara area were closed down like Royal Palms Beach Hotels. Blue Waters as well as Citrus were quarantine centers. Jetwin Hotels like Jei Jei Beach and Mermaid were opened for guests with some precautions for Covid 19.

I am not sure about the number of hotels involved but most of this Group's hotels were used as quarantine hotels for returning passengers. The 'Cost of Revenue' is far lesser than normal times. I am not holding any share but thinking if there is any opportunity make quick profits.
