New Delhi - Samples of Maggi noddles were on Tuesday found “unsafe” for consumption in the national capital prompting Delhi government to contemplate action against its manufacturer Nestle India.

A senior official in the Delhi government said the Maggi samples were found unsafe during lab testing.

Sources said the city government was contemplating various options on the issue.

The probe into alleged lapses of food safety standards has already been expanded to test Maggi noodle samples from across the country following detection of monosodium glutamate and lead in excess of the prescribed limit in the noodles.

However, Nestle India claimed it has got samples tested in an external laboratory as well as in-house and that the product was found “safe to eat”.

Earlier, the Kerala government had ordered pullout of Maggi noodles from its retail outlets while samples of the product in Haryana were lifted for testing even as a Bihar court ordered that an FIR be filed against its brand ambassadors Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta.

It doesn't matter those Multi-national companies. investigation should done in here too.
Previously its "Fonterra" brand milk powder. In PR China those directors were hanged for selling poisons. Now its Nestle "Maggie" in India.
But what happens in SL. Sudden, change of production form New Zealnd farm to local farms. (some Youghrts).
There's a duty of a public as well to avoid consuming these brands. But, everything get forget when our people see a actress or a cute mom with a cute son with some promotions.. And thats all. Bcz they know that's Poor minds of SL society.
Day by day, year by year the number cancer patients increasing. Now, its been already spreaded to childrens and teens as well. Not only cancers and some chronic diseases which could be seen in adults.
If its not taken neccessary legal steps by the authorities, plus educating public we'll left only sicks. So, what's the future of the country.
Its time all of us to be educate and get known against those and;
Indeed all we have to think out of the box of Money, which MN businesses believes as anything can be concealed.
And its the time to think altogether, about the our Health and Future of the society.

Nestle India has said it has decided to take its popular brand of instant noodles off the shelves in the country after several Indian states banned it for allegedly containing unsafe levels of lead.

The company said in a statement that the trust of its consumers and the safety of products was its first priority, but added "Maggi noodles are completely safe and have been trusted in India for over 30 years".

Several Indian states, including Uttrakhand, New Delhi, Gujarat and Indian-administered Kashmir, have either ordered the withdrawal of Maggi noodles from shops or are carrying out further tests on samples before taking action in conjunction with the federal government.

The statement said the Maggi noodles would be back in the Indian market as soon as the current situation is clarified.

Maggi sales have plunged in India since laboratory tests ordered by some state governments showed the noodles contained lead at levels far higher than legally allowed. The tests also detected the chemical flavor enhancer monosodium glutamate, or MSG, which is not mentioned in the product's list of ingredients.

Maggi noodles are a hot favorite with school and college students and Nestle's "two-minute" advertising campaign stressing the ease of making the snack have made it a household name in India. The noodles are Nestle's fastest-selling food item in India, clocking about 15 billion rupees ($240m) in sales annually.
