HNB regrets unauthorized incident at branch and says action taken

Post by CK on Fri May 25, 2018 3:52 pm

In a surprising move without referring to any specific described incidents, one of Sri Lanka’s leading listed Bank - privately owned for the name sake, but also government controlled via state controlled bodies’ share ownership – Hatton National Bank (HNB) in company’s official Facebook page said in three consecutive posts that the “HNB does not condone with sentiments or acts that pose a threat to the morale of citizens of Sri Lanka” referring to an undefined incident that took place in one of the branches of the Bank.

In an initial move on Monday the 21st May 2018 via an evening post, the bank’s official Facebook page said that HNB does not condone with sentiments or acts that pose a threat to the morale of citizens of Sri Lanka. “
As a Bank that stands for all Sri Lankans, our goals, interests and initiatives are all aligned to the vision and greater good of our Country” the bank said adding that they regret if any of the branches have been used in an unprofessional way on acts that don’t reflect the values of the Bank.

“Such matters will be investigated and actions taken as deemed necessary” the bank said.

Thereafter, the second post which was posted to HNB’s official Facebook page on 23rd May night said that “HNB takes very seriously any sentiment or act that is in violation of, or poses a threat to the morale of citizens of Sri Lanka. As a Bank that stands for all Sri Lankans, our goals, interests and initiatives are all aligned to the vision and greater good of our Country.”

The statement further added that the Bank regrets an unauthorized incident that took place recently in one of the branches, which does not reflect the values of the Bank.

“The matter has been investigated and necessary action taken,” the Bank said on Wednesday the 23rd May 2018. The same post was also published in Sinhala on the Bank’s official Facebook on Wednesday.

There is a large portion of LTTE supporters in the private sector currently in sleep mode and we should demand the HNB is to expose who were responsible for that and also to deal with them swiftly according to existing rules and regulation.
I think every shareholder (except the LTTE supporters) should write to the BANK and demand action immediately.

We should demand action (both individually and collectively) from the HNB.
(I have already written to them demanding action to be taken).
Nice write up below;

From the pictures  I can not see them remembering LTTE. They are remembering their dead tamils which is their right.

Sinhalanet is allign with JO and MR media unit. it is trying to show this as remembering LTTE, just for political gain. So dont fall onto the trap..

The issue raised here was why the Bank participated in supporting a terrorist outfit only.
Nothing else.
If anyone is keen writing to them and demand action, this is their contact address;
hnbconnect@hnb.lk
(But I am sure, true to the Sri Lankan fashion none will write to them hoping that someone else will do their job for them).

You have a valid point, why they dont remember tamils murdered by LTTE. we can not question on that as it is upto them to decide who should be remembered and who should not be..

It may be a lion or a dragon. But for sure there is no Tiger or LTTE symbol.

then why Sinhalanet trying to show it is as remembering LTTE?

It all politics. MR gang want to come to power by hook or crook. they are in the initial stage of creating a bigger problem.

Yes, Bank should have been neutral to politics. However, this is not a decision taken by the Management of the bank's head office but an act of decentralized unit apparently  influenced by local gangs/polititions. Central Banks also can take up this matter.
