මාතර බත් කඩ හැමතැනම ඒත් මාතර කැමකන්න හොදතැනක් නැහැ.

Every nook and cranny, you find මාතර බත් කඩ, but there is no decent place for you to have decent Sri Lankan meal in Matara.
Anyone with the knowledge of the area can suggest some place please?

Thanks Pathfinder.
Been there last time but the place was filthy.
Flies to crows in the alfresco.
The dining area was poorly lit and food was atrocious, to say the least.
Previously, we used to go to Weligama Rest but now with the E1 extending upto Matara, I prefer to find a place around Matara.
Any more suggestions guys / gals ?

I was working in Matara in 1980s. I faced the same problem. The situation has not improved much for last 35 years. You can find low quality hotales with all dirt .

i had a nice experience regarding Matara Bath Kada..in 2002

I was returning from Kataragama and seated in front row with the driver... Soon the rest of the crowd in the van got sleeping and we continued the journey talking .. We were looking for a decent bath kada in Matara and found none.. so we did not stopped the vehicle continued the journey and only after passing Galle others got up and said they are hungry and want to eat Bath... We were looking at different places but did not stopped and there were no good place in Hikkaduwa.. We were eagerly looking at huts that had nice boards..Avacado with Rotti... Finally we got down infront of a hut that had added the word Rice.. By that time it was 4.30 pm and we had rice and curry.. The list of foods served in this hut is displaced nicely and one type of food we have never eaten.. JAFFLE... So I asked from the Mudalali who was wearing a sarong " Can we have a Jaffle".. He said its too early .. Anyway when we finished it was after 5 pm and he said bread is delivered so if you want you can have JAFFLE.. So I said lets try one and ordered one..JAFFLE with Onion or Tomato..with Cheese..so the we selected one option.. And finally we ate JAFFLE...

You glamourize a thing and then the price of that will sky rocket for no apparent reason.

All I can remember about Matara is Dr Mohotti. Used to be a decent hospital.
