Re: CDS E-Services launched.
Hope it will develop in to a system where we can trade without paying 'unreasonable' commission rates to brokers.

If anyone managed to register please give some comments
HUNTER - about paying commissions for brokers, it's tricky to say we don't get anything from them, depend on how big or small your volume is.
If a person pays a lot as commission, he may get some good research reports from the broker. If someone who pays very low amount, then it maybe is negligible to complain
But if you're someone who does not rely on the broker for advise, or want him to find a buyer or seller, option to trade directly is good, but I think that too will involve a cost for the system. But I don't think CDS is going to compete against brokers, specially looking a the ownership structure.

Re: CDS E-Services launched.
In my view; the main two services provided by brokers are;
1. Provide a mechanism to buy and sell shares
2. Manage the cash-flow between buyers and sellers.
(As I consider, all other services such as research reports are just add ons.)
So, they needed to compensated with some commission.
What I have in mind is; the broker commission system should be more creative.
1% per tx is ok for long term investments; but not 'reasonable' for short term trading.
While keeping 1% for long term, they can come up with packages for traders; for example, an entitlement of certain trading volume for a monthly fixed fee.
(i.e. Paying Rs 10,000 as commission upfront, enable the trader to trade up to, say, Rs 5 million worth of shares within a month)
(The present 'half rate' for day trading is not good enough)

I agree with this type of a charge. Brokers have to evaluate the feasibility and also if it is allowed by law (there are 29 and surely some will go bankrupt)

It can also be fixed amount per trade etc., Let's study how it it done in other markets. Of course the volumes are very different.
Some methods will reduce broker profitability. Some will give less volatile revenues. In any case, there are too many brokers out there.
I think in some countries there are 'budget brokers' who offer no research but only facilitate trades for less cost

Re: CDS E-Services launched.
If the commissions are reduced, I am 100% sure, the trading volumes will increase; sometimes broker may even get higher returns.
For example; when do the government get higher revenue from vehicle imports; when the taxes are low or 'extraordinarily high' ?
--------
I've heard different commission packages are offered in other countries such as USA & Australia.
