President offers UK envoy post to Sangakkara

President Maithripala Sirisena offered the position of High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the United Kingdom a short while ago. President made the offer speaking at the farewell ceremony held at the end of the second test match for the cricketing legend.

This is the problem with the Diplomatic service selection in Sri Lanka.
Positions are not being offered to the most suitable and competent people.
No wonder, why we would stay a Third World country forever.

what happen to Dr. Chris Nonis? i guess he is the best fit for the job.

Diplomats should know politics,economy,internatinal relations,
Sanga is a sports diplomat,but he has to learn all diplomatic protocalls to be a career diplomat,but good choice and oppertunity for him

International diplomacy is a far different ball game altogether than dispatching a ball out of the park.

We dont have big say in international politics all what our leaders telling is yes sir to powerful countriees we do not have bargaining power,and capable diplomats except,few professionals,
