Re: SriLankan new Fleet
I think this is written not by chinwi as I saw he had advanced knowledge about this field.
for some one interested
With Airbus you don't have customer codes, the model numbers are simply related to Aircraft version and Engine type.
The first number of the code (eg A320-211) indicates the series of aircraft ie.
A320-100 series
A320-200 series
The second number of the code (eg A320-211) indicates engine types ie.
0=GE Engines eg A330-303
1=CFM Engines eg A320-214
2=PW Engines eg A330-222
3=IAE Engines eg A321-231
4=RR Engines eg A330-243
The final number (eg A320-211)indicates improvements within an aircradft series, a higher number often indicates higher MTOW or something like that ie
A320-211 has lower MTOW than
A320-214
This is also why if an aircraft is re-engined, it's model number changes. Also, if it undergoes some sort of modification it's model number changes, eg modification from A310-324 to A310-325.

Thanks Kithsiri and Yaka for the clarification and further elaboration. What an evolution from Douglas C-47 Dakota to Air Bus. Sky is the limit. One day, Like to see a bigger plane manufactured in SL soaring in the sky.........

Re: SriLankan new Fleet
They build aircraft elsewhere and bring them to Châteauroux for painting after doing main test flights.
As far as I know, these images were taken by a SriLankan living there.
He has make it a 330-340 by mistake.
Flying halfway painted means they do test flights while painting ?

Normally Airbus paints aircraft tail fin (vertical stabilizer) before they do test flights.

If you understood where I was aiming, I think it was still qualified to be flying.chinwi wrote:Thanks UKB.The king used the planes for other affairs.කිත්සිරි ද සිල්වා wrote:In fact, we introduced flying to the World.

-300 has higher passenger cap hence lower the range (if it’s full). Also -300 range is lower than -200.
They will have to find ways to do this until get the A350-900

Need to do a big correction. Stop electing useless peoples for parliment and other placess. Still I dont think half of the peoples in Sri Lanka thinking about the country. They only going back of party or person.

True! Good point. Checked and found that in fact new aircraft are weight-restricted on CMB/LHR sector.
