Re: What are investing methods in Sri Lanka?
TBills are safer than FDs. But will pay lesser than most FDs.
Do not buy unlisted companies if you are starting.
Debentures can be easily obtained. Just need to find good company . Sometimes they pay closer to FD rates. But need to check the latest rule on such on debt tax.
Importing vehicles and selling in bigger scale , have big headaches with Rs fluctuations, custom clearance , arranging fiance/leasing etc
I think you first need to narrow your scope and figure out how much you can invest.
Are you willing to take big risks ( okay to lose all) or safer risks?

I gather you just want answers to your question .
So no opinion but just answers to your questions.
1) "What is unlisted companies? I have no idea.
Basically they are companies which are not listed at CSE.
Coca Cola, Sri Lankan Air, People Bank, George Stuart
etc to lesser known mom and pop companies
2) "I want to know more about Debentures. Is it risk like FDs? Can not get those from brokers like we get tbill bank? "
a) * A fixed deposit is basically a debt instrument that is issued by a Bank or Finance
Company in Sri Lanka. They will not be issued by Companies like JKH.
* They will not be listed at CSE
* The Bank/Finco promises to pay the interest as well as the principal amount
after a certain period.
* Fixed can go longer term even like 10-15 years.
b) * A debenture is usually an Unsecured bond that is not backed by a physical asset
or collateral.
* They are usually issued in SL by Commercial and Finance Companies.
* They carry a fixed interest rate like FD
* Usually they are not very long term ( like 5 years )
* Debentures have the option of being listed at CSE , but it not active
as of now.

Re: What are investing methods in Sri Lanka?
What can we do with unlisted companies? Investing in the debenture or how?
According to real estate, we buy land in low price and sell high price is it real estate in SL? or any other methods like broker involving stock investing?
Thank you very much for help to understand the SL investing methods.
