Backstage wrote:There are a lot of posts on this thread and some long ones, I don't have the time to read all and don't quite know what began where. Not sure why Ruwan wants to leave, something said or this red flag business ? Whatever it is its quite clear that there is a red flag blitz, and quite clear that it is the work of trouble makers trying to get forum lose it's balance. Who's who isn't clear yet, lets see.
In the meantime lets hear out YK and see what his record keeping will reveal. I understand he is trying to show political impact on CSE movement and not start a political discussion here. Maybe some are misinterpreting the title of thread.
In real I never thought this much argument in this thread. Immediately after YPs take over I started a thread to record Forex. There were no discussion but mere records. I thought this thread will be like that.
https://forum.lankaninvestor.com/t4403-sri-lankan-rupee-and-forex?highlight=forex
When I started threads on Shares I asked other writers to keep the thread only for that specific share and like a Librarian I prefer to keep the books in right rack.
But of course this one is on Political impact on CSE. Mind you PEST or PESTLE matters a lot. It is not who become the president but also the actions he takes. Having a proper record helps us to go back in time tunnel and study.
Now if you look at the CSE chart from 2004 onwards after CBK, market slept almost for a decade or more. But if you are an investor you should have got better results with Debt instruments than with Equity.
Now on Gota
I too understand that Cleaning Roads will not have direct impact on CSE but a rate cutting would do. We do not know wether Goat will do better or worse to economy.
This thread will be politically useful to Gota supporters only if Gota do good. What if not then the opposition camp will.. I will just keep the record.
I did not add Colombo is more cleaner now as worthwhile fact.
Lets wait and see...
and let me continue the thread.
I again propose to remove these negative buttons ...

Yes ,,, Let's talk about tax now.
When we are talking please talk with reasons, facts and figures along with your interpretations.
I like to build the platform for discussion by reminding how I wrote the first Budget of YP government..
https://forum.lankaninvestor.com/t6738-budget-review?highlight=budget+review
Dear New Comers, I find you get upset when politics is discussed. But see the way we discussed politics in the Budget Review thread. That patience is needed in the forum.
Mind you I was not a voter for YP government but I appreciated what is good.

Budget 2016 had many positive concepts and surprisingly many analysts have failed to see and highlight these new developments.
1. Venture Capital
2. EXIM Bank
3. Dividing banking from NBFI sector
4. De-regularizing areas which acted like monopoly, duopoly and oligopoly
5. Cutting subsidies for agricultural sector.
7. Regularizing heavily on entire Finance industry
And this is how I put politics into the thread which was needed for the discussion.
Even the Finance Minister took almost two hours to describe historical phases in Sri Lanka economy and highlighted UNP regimes as the only positive contributing eras of Sri Lanka. Even the Prime-ministers economic direction speech done prior to budget was highlighting three generations of UNP .
Though I have not voted for YPs this is how I appreciated new concepts of their maiden budget.
First of all we are really happy to see the term Venture Capital being included in the budget speech. This shows that new government has taken time to study how things happen in other countries.
I just highlighted above from past to show the importance of maintaining such political oriented threads in the forum.
We can go back in Time Tunnel and see how we acted and behaved and what were our expectations as well as what really happened.

Re: Gota's Era
The estimated VAT income for the state coffers, calculated at 15% is ~LKR 530bn for 2019. In a previous pre-Presidential election briefing PM Mahinda Rajapakse wanted to reduce the PAYE tax, agricultural taxes and the telecommunication taxes.
This we believe would provide an immediate impetus to consumption and would add a short term injection to GDP growth. However for the long term macro health of the economy, this would be visibly injurious. SL has long struggled with twin deficits and more notably so, with Revenue / GDP. We saw the post 2016 VAT increase, this gap closing, although it came at the expense of consumption led growth.
In addition to the reduction of VAT, the following tax removals have been announced. We believe this could improve the bottom lines for the stocks exposed to sectors consumption, BFI, construction, tourism, agriculture and IT. The saving in disposable income means that consumption sector stocks will stand the most to benefit going by how the reversals in 2016 affected the sector performance.
2% NBT on banking, finance and insurance will be removed; VAT on FS will be maintained. Foreign Currency earnings exempted from income tax.
PAYE taxes to be removed for earning on all inclusive monthly income of Rs 250,000 in place of current ceiling of Rs 125,000 per month for all public & private sector employees with effect from 1st January 2020.
Tax free threshold for turnover for Vat to be raised from Rs 1mn per month to Rs 25mn per month.
Telecommunications Levy reduced by 25% This will be on the taxes on voice which was at 15%. The new tax on voice therefore will be 11.25%. Not a significant saving for the bottom line to move share price- is our first impression.
Withholding Tax on interest income removed for those monthly interest income less than Rs 250,000.
Tourism business will be treated as export for zero rate provided that 60% turnover is sourced from local supplies.
Farm income from agriculture, fishing & livestock to be made income tax free.
Construction Industry to be placed on 14% income tax instead of 28%.
IT & enabling services to be made tax free from all taxes.

We may have different political views as well as economic philosophies. These differences should not be reasoned for fighting with one another . Ruwan did a goo job for the forum.

YK, ans is below if you missed
1) There is a reference to you ( YK) at the top of his post. I presume you missed seeing it ?
https://forum.lankaninvestor.com/t11242p425-daily-foreign-transactions#103148
2) Ruwan lengthy essay hides his reasons he gave for staying away from this forum. I extract the below and highlight in red for lazy people who don't read.

There are few members here also doing smart promotions-When I say smart promotion please check and do action.
I have exposed other 2 forums and their owners and slaves, they all like to kill me if they can, because they can not dance freely and do manipulation/speculation shares like before....
1st-skip
2nd thing I planned to Quit is I ask senior members to look @ smart promotions ... they never bothered3rd is this political/share promotions and no one bothered to control blood suckers from other forums ruining this forum....

Kithisri,
No. Share1 is not the one who is RED repping. He can't red rep yet as he is new.
But a collection of people I saw previously was giving Share1 plenty of green
reps
I previously mentioned in my detailed post that some new accounts
were created and are behaving abnormally. Did you"ll read my post ?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kithsiri,
Most matters Ruwan mentioned , I have to agree.
I well know you seen the issues he pointed out too.
So has ADMIN Id and others. But all keep quiet.
I too am personally concerned about the lack of questioning
and intervention by Admin, Seniors and member on SMART PROMOTIONS AND POLITICAL PROMOTIONS ON SHARES.
This is only going to get worse with market running further .
I have done what I can to intervene and add balance as you know on such thread. Usually am always the target due to such. I can't do this alone and can't be the bad egg dedicating my time always.
I request you ADMIN and Kithsiri to intervene in such threads as I plan to
stay away from this place until thing are handled better here.
I know Kithsiri, you will say you are not proficient on Fundamental analysis
or Technical stuff to argue with such . It does not matter.
Common sense can easily tell what is promotional or Manipulated right ?
You are smart enough to identify such am sure . Step in Kithsiri.
It is the duty of Admin, Moderators and Senior members to intervene
when we see promotional posts that are meant to add positiveness to
share until the dump/pump happens and promoter/demoter stop talking
on it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
RUWAN :
1) I think challenging YK to expose his Private message is not needed.
He is not a person who will gang up to set fire against you or in
the forum. There are others who do it. I am talking with facts here.
2) The recent abnormal behavior against you, which included involving new
accounts too was organized by not YK. Take my word on it.
3) If you want to fight the wrong, you need to hang around longer time
and take the stings. I have been stung and back-stabbed by so many over
the last 10 years standing for the right and defending public interest.
4) But I really feel you should cut back on Political posts you did yourself.
