Interesting thread.

I am a person who usually avoid taking any medicine (I mean western); believe that our body and mind have the capability and immunity to 'handle' 99% of deceases we seek medication for.

A proper routine of exercise, and some mild meditation along with few 'yoga' practices time to time (like Jalaneththi and sarvangasana) can keep you away from any type of hospital 'forever' (even from the optician).

--------------

To the main topic:

I have seen the effectiveness of local medication myself.

Some time back, my wife and her sister got some symptoms of 'Calcium stones' in a gland near liver (pancreas I guess) at the same time. Her sister went for western medicine while my wife got to know about a local doctor (Veda mahaththya).

OK. to cut the short story. Both got cured; sister by going through a surgery and wife drinking couple of local 'arishta'.

Second incident came when both got Thyroid. The results were the same. Again, one went through surgery and the other drinking couple of bottles.

I was told few amazing stories like, that doctor has cured even paralyzed patients.

(As I remember, the doctor is known as 'Padukka Veda Mahaththaya'; a famous one they say.

Yes, there is one in Anuradhapura.
Unfortunately I do not have the contact details.
(I will post it once I have it).
He is known to have avoided by-pass operations simply applying (Paththu) on patients.

Re: Hela Wedakama - (හෙළ වෙදකම)

Post by Ethical Trader on Fri Feb 26, 2016 4:16 pm

I want to share a little bit I have learnt and practice on "alternate medicine" with you all.

Today, any medical practice other than the western medicine is titlled as "alternate medicine". Aurweda, Unani, Homiopathy or Hela Weda Kama for that matter come under this alternate category.

There are historical accounts (In Sri Lanka, India and many South Asian countries) of King Rawana who had super powers to do many wonderfull things. He had developped his mind to an extent where Maha Brhma too respected him according to Indian writings such as Ramayan.

Recently, I red a book mtitlld "Health on your Palm" written by an Indian auther. There he illustrates many simple and inexpensive methods to check on many ailments a man may encounter. The auther says in this book that if you practice them you are sure to kep your docter away!!

Its wonderfull and I have practiced some of them with very good results.

The basic treatment prescribed there is based on massaging your palms & feet with your own thumb twise a day. The auther admits that this therapy was first discovered by King Rawana. Hence, I think that this should be a therapy under Hela Weda Kama discussed in this thread.

Massage can be done by yourself. Use right hand thumb & fingures to massage your left hand palm and wise-versa. Both wrist and palm should be massaged up-to the finger tips using the tip of your thumb-at least ten punches at each point. So is your feet starting from the ancle up-to the tips of your toes. If you feel a pain when a certain point is punched increase the number of punches at that point. (The pain is an indication that the particular organ in your body connected to that point is sick. So increasing the number of punches at that point energises the sick organ curing it ultimately)

Actually, the control points of our nerves system are on our palms and feet. Regular massaging those points would energise all the organs through nerves irrespective of whether they are sick or not. The auther says imbalances in our body make our organs sick and mere massaging these points keep them energised.

What a woderfull method to keep you from your docter. Practice this simple therapy & let us know the results.

Samata Theruwan saranai.

වසර 12ක් ඇවිදින්න බැරිව සිටි තරුණියන් දෙදනෙකුව පැය 8ක විශ්මිත වෙදකමකින් සුව කළ තරුණයා

Post by කිත්සිරි ද සිල්වා on Fri Feb 26, 2016 4:41 pm

Dont get overly excited by these guys. Whats the plan to check on recovery say for example on a blocked vein do an angiogram or any other test using western medicine? There are many other ailments. My wife is a doctor in cardiology and she tells me how patients come back with worsening conditions after doing ayurveda.

My mother in law had osteoarthritis and did ayurveda for 2 years or so and same was her cousin. Mainly because relations said so. Mother in laws knee had a x ray in September last year and the condition was much worse. Both had knee replacement surgery and after 2 months both are having normal lives thanks to surgery. Going to several known veda mahaththaya did not work. I was wondering how the gel between the knee can be brought back with paththu. There is a gel injection if one go to Singapore may come to SL later.

So you should know what can be and can not be done in ayurveda. For some cures ayurveda may be better like hair loss and kadum bidum cures.

Also like in Share market think about the risk vs return.

Yes, Bala is right.
One should not overtly excite about any treatment and or doctor.
In addition to medications and procedures, there is something else is playing a vital role in any event.
That is called the element of luck.
(Here is my story.
I had a severe back pain and had been to many western doctors and have taken enough and more tablets and pills hoping a relief. But it was not to be. So we decide to consult a neurosurgeon. The best in the town was consulted and on his advice took a MRI too. After looking at the MRI and report, he suggested me to go under the knife to correct the issue. The pain was so bad I almost committed to do that. Then my wife inquired how long it would take me to regain complete recovery. His reply was to get 50% , I would be needing at least 6 months. That was the RED FLAG and we decided to seek another opinion.
We went to a Ayurvedic Doctor for help. We had the MRI & the report and after holding my pulse for almost 3-5 minutes he told me exactly what ails me and casually inquired what was in the MRI report. I confirmed, all what he said were in the report exactly the same. Then he asked what the course of treatment was, the consulted doctor suggested. When I mentioned to go under the knife, he “  ඔය තැන් හරි නරක තැන් අපි කපන්නේ නැතුව මොනවා හරි කරන්න බලමු මහත්තයා “.
He prescribed eight 45 minutes full body oil massage, steam bath to be  done and some concoction to drink.
After the First ever massage & steam bath I came out from that place wondering where did the pain go.
No exaggerations.
There I have seen, some were being carried to the consultation room on the first day and a few days later the same patient comes walking alone to the same room.
There I have met many who had nothing but positive things to say about the doctor.
My sister in law is suffering from some form of muscle decaying and on a Walker for long time.
We took her to the same doctor and did exactly as he told us to do but still she uses the Walker and there was not much of an improvement on her).

Thank you for reading the boring Weekend story.
 Very Happy

1) Thanks again specially to the few who took effort to find info for the question asked .

2) I am more of man of science and scientific reasoning. Yet I acknowledge there are many things beyond our realm of scientific knowledge which are not proven yet and undiscovered. Hence we cannot exclude them.

Ex : If someone say Aliens do not exist as SETI project didn't find them, that is not a wise conclusion I am sure.
In the speck we call earth in the Sea that is the Universe ( some claim never ending- ever expanding) , who can say there does not exist a species that is superior to us in galaxay far far away.
At the same time, we don't have to belive UFO stories that prop up every so often.

In the same spirit, I will not undermine the power the alternative medicine. However , I do agree finding the right guy might be like finding KALU NIKA , it will be waste and can be dangerous even to pursue the wrong person , and also doing checkups using western medicine ( like Angio grams) is a good method to find the Wedakama is working or not.

Western Medicine has it good things. It has straight forward, widely used, and more tested methods. But what happens when we encounter an illness there is no cure via Western medicine?
So Wedakama maybe the only option then if someone is given 3 months to live by western medicine
( nothing much to loose then )

Probably only thing harder to find than the right Weda mahaththaya is find a good astrologer Smile

Is someone given 3 months notice to live?
Interesting to know what the sickness is; Cancer, HIV?
I honestly haven't heard much of other problems so obvious but unmanageable by western treatments if you have the right amount of money.

No right or wrong amount of Money can cure certain illness using western medicine.
Some you mentioned are examples. There are others that can be controlled but not curable also.

FYI, even heart ailments will not be directly treated by western medicine doctors via by-pass or stents for some patient Then they too will run out of options.

Seriously did not understand this

Dont get overly excited by these guys. Whats the plan to check on recovery say for example on a blocked vein do an angiogram or any other test using western medicine? There are many other ailments. My wife is a doctor in cardiology and she tells me how patients come back with worsening conditions after doing ayurveda.

Also like in Share market think about the risk vs return.

This is called in Sinhala  ගගෙන් වතුර බීලා මුහුදට ආවඩනවා වගේ
Many are treated by western medicine and get cured,If one goes wrong all doctors and their mothers get shot naked by our brave media guys.
On the other hand many treated by so called "wedamahaththaya" are died or get their ailment worse,If one get cured by his luck all media guys hurried to promote it.But in an emergency they all go to western hospitals.  lol!

I don't condemn sinhala wedakama,It's unique and it has treatment for many longterm diseases (but not the Ayurweda),but finding the right person is extremely difficult as this country doesn't care about quality at all.
